Thanks!
Thanks for the number Joe. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, but some things came up and got in the way.
As it turns out, I got into a carpool with a bunch of other guys at work, so I have a little time before I "need" to get more fuel efficient injectors.
Contact info for Dynomite Diesel
Hmmm, sounds good. Can you tell me how to contact Dynomite Diesel? Do they have a website so I can look at what they have to offer, or do I need to call them?
Yea, I figured 2-3 mpg was being optimistic at best, but I was really expecting to see more along the lines of a solid 1-1. 5 mpg improvement. I really won't have any problem staying off of the accelerator if I know that it's going to cost me fuel economy.
So, how do I tell if I have a bad...
Okay, as fuel prices rise to an all time high I need to look for ways to cut costs. I've already done all the "normal" things that are done to maximize fuel economy, and now I'm considering new injectors since I've almost got 200k miles on the stock ones. Let me just say that I am perfectly...
Yea, I've heard enough horror stories about the 518 busting that if I did something like this, I'd probably actually use the 618, at least it was designed to handle the sort of torque that we'd be looking at here from a massaged big block.
I'm the first to confess to knowing almost nothing...
Well, even if it didn't bolt on directly, couldn't you still adapt the overdrive tailhousing to the 727? Wouldn't it be similar to installing the Gear Vendors unit? All I'm saying is that if someone took a little time and had some fabrication skills, wouldn't it be possible to get an overdrive...
So, is it possible to just replace the tailhousing from the 727 with the overdrive tailhousing from the 518? From what little I've heard about the 518, that's where all the overdrive guts are, right? Are the bolt patterns the same for the tailhousings on the 727 and the 518?
What about the...
I agree, it is definitely a nightmare to get in there. I unbolted the brake booster so I could move it a little out of the way, and it helped a little. Why on earth do these companys make stuff so hard to replace? I thought that was the thing to do these days, don't make it repairable, make it...
Okay, I'll give that a try. I sure hope it works, it's supposed to be in the single digits for temperature, and the windchill will drop it even further, and I don't want to have to work on this thing any longer than I have to.
I'm still open to any other ideas in case this doesn't work. No...
Hi All,
I am in the middle of trying to remove the two fuel lines that come up from the frame to the firewall and then to the engine so that I can replace them with the HD hoses that Larry B sells.
What is the best way to get the old hoses off of the metal fuel lines? I've tried...
Hi All,
I hope someone can help me with this. I'm trying to remove the OEM steering stabilizer and I am having problems trying to remove the bolt that goes thru the bar near the center of the truck. I've tried turning on it to break it loose using the hex on the inside of the bolt, nothing...
Thanks!
Thanks for the info guys. I was figuring it'd be somewhere around 8 ft, I might go with 10 just to be safe though. I'd rather have a little extra than come up short. :{
Hi All,
I'm getting ready to order a boost and EGT gauge for my truck, and as I was getting ready to place the order, there was a choice for the length of the lead on the pyrometer and I wasn't sure what to get.
Can anyone tell me what is about the right length lead to get? The gauge...
It's the game they play...
You have to remember, they are there to make money off of us. If they can embarrass you to be seen in that "stinky and noisy" old truck, then you'll be more likely to trade it in on a new one that is all shiny and quiet. It's part of the strategy they employ to get...
Yea, a set of auxiliary lights was going to be my next step if I couldn't come up with a way to just replace the bulbs with something that would last longer. But I figured that those bulbs would just eventually get blown out too since they are essentially the same as what I have now and they'll...
