Yeah that is what i was afraid of. I have my own snap on modus scanner so i dont need to take it somewhere. The reason why i haven't done it yet is its my buddies pickup and i got to wait tell he gets here. Thanks i let you know how it turns out.
Yeah i'm aware it doesn't always mean the vp. Yes I have got a gauge on it on the lp and tested both under load and idle and it was good. I'm just afraid that the vp is about the only thing left to cause the problem and it seems the vp typically goes out after the lp if the lp was not caught in...
LP just went out on 00 stock. Replaced the lp and ran great for about a week now at idle it cuts out every now and then but runs fine down the road. Is it possible not to be a vp44 going bad? What else could the p1693 be from, i'm afraid its the vp44 because lp was bad for awhile before i fixed it.

I have worked on one 99 that in 120 k went through two shift collars and one axle shaft on the front actuator. Keep in mind it was abused hard like while spinning hard dropping into 4wd. Also like bighammer said i have replaced several of the vaccum switches on them also it is a common problem...
Alright well thanks for the info i thought that was how it worked but some of the other posts on how to do it were a little confusing. Now i just have to wait for the snap on kit to get here. Thanks
Oh i was way off then. So what is the difference on like 95 to 97 that cause the nut to spin off of 5th gear where as on the newer 98 and newer the shafts break. I was under the impression that the transmissions with the problem of the nut falling off was the getrag and the new ones with the...
