I guess I am late to this party. I think there is a strong chance that I use the G56 in as tough and brutal environment as anyone in the country. Some of the highest environmental temperatures as anywhere in the country with some very large loads over horrible roads in 4x4 most of the time...
Thats horrible luck I guess. Approaching 100 company trucks with this transmission and never had a warranty issue on any of them (related to the transmission or clutch). I can give you a laundry list on the other warranty issues but thats another discussion.
You might be right. However that would not speak well of current quality control as we never had this issue on older rams. Our 2003 era trucks rarely had an issue and some with 200K+ on them in the same conditions. Our parts truck (2016 2500) had a full front end rebuild at 40K miles with a new...
I appreciate these two options. At this point this seems to be the main weak link in trucks that have generally have been darn near flawless under some tough conditions. Unfortunately 4x4 is probably a must about 75% of the time. I will look into that summit racing box. It really was an eye...
I am interested in seeing what (if any) problems you folks have had with the steering boxes on these trucks. I will start by disclosing that in my business (ranching) my trucks have a tough life. Most of them never leave a dirt road and some stay in 4 wheel drive for months at a time. With that...
Sorta. It is lowest cost and efficient if you know how to drive one correctly (hmm, that’s a problem when an entire generation doesn’t even know what that peddle is for) Autos are easy for those who live their lives on pavement who don’t really care about extra complexity because AAA will pick...
True the G56 has never been a source of problems for me. The biggest issue I have had is front ends and steering linkages. Every 25-40k miles without exception we replace that intermediate steering shaft and do a complete front end rebuild. At that point the truck is scary to drive on the...
Whats the scoop on K&N filters? I have friends that use them but I do not currently. Do they work well and are they worth the cost? Dont you have to oil them? Good? bad?
Honestly never knew we had that message on the truck. Learn something new everyday. My best guess is if that light is on, then the filter has over stayed its welcome.
My daily driver is a SRW 2500 and it pulls the load just fine. I guess I have reached that age where I appreciate having duallies (my foreman calls them training wheels). Anything over 32' loaded gets "training wheels" on our operation if nothing else for the stability.
Makes sense. When the dust is so thick that you cant see the front of the hood for 3 hours of driving I guess I reach my peak efficiency in about 20 minutes. Have not had engine damage since a pack rat in late 90's. My "better safe than sorry" nonsense has worked well for 3 decades and many...
when most people load up trailers they strap em down and the load doesn't move. When I fill a trailer, the load moves, the load fights with each other, reacts to passing cars and generally moves all over the place. The beauty of the International is the air suspension and the air brakes. They...
