I have had Jake for two years now without any problems. It was installed by a Cummins dealer and was a hell of a lot cheaper then going through Dodge. I leave my jake on all the time which I have heard that guys that don't have problems with the butterfly valve getting carboned up and sticking.
I bought a extended warranty but only because I wanted the pickup covered while I was making payments. I didn't want a catastrophic failure expense and then a pickup payment on top of that.
That's what I found out. Empty it weighed 7,800 lbs. Then you add gear and equipment to it and you are way over the 6,500 lbs. claimed on the sticker.
The camper would squat right down to the rubber stops on the axcel. That alone told me the 1/2 ton was too small a truck.
I used to be a transport driver. Blending is mostly done at the terminal as the fuel is being loaded. Any additives would be injected in the fuel as it is being loaded into the tanker. If you are loading for a certain company then thier additive package would be loaded with the fuel.
I don't know if your have bio-diesel in your area but I noticed the same thing. Minnesota is mandated to run at least 2% bio in their fuel. You can find places that run more. The Walmart in my town was running 5%. Bio-diesel has lower BTU's then regular #2 diesel. Lower BTU's translates to less...
