I'm tired of removing my cold-air kit every time I change the oil-filter so I want to install a dual-filtration (regular & bypass) remote kit. Questions directed toward young and/or old-hands out there with some past experience in this area, include: 1) Should I stick with an established...
UPDATE: Dropped off the truck at the trans shop at 8:00am yesterday. The trans shop performed a systems analysis and then dropped the pan and replaced the BD transducer with a factory Dodge unit and put in a new harness kit. I opted to go with the 'stock' transducer in order to get the truck...
I've read most of the posts on this topic and nobody has posted a video, so here's mine.
Jump to '38 seconds' to see the CEL/MIL lights & RPM swing.
Recap: It's a 5 year old, BD trans with 50k on it (serviced yearly including band adjustments & Amsoil trans fluid)
I'm taking it to Competition...
Look closer...I saw middle-fingers missing from the top-knuckle up, on some press operators in that video. Hard way to make a living....I feel for them.
The 5.9 was rebuilt 5 years ago at 225k miles and now has 275k miles on it.
When I hit 325k I'll have valve-lash checked & adjusted as needed.
I just got the truck back from Diesel Specialists (in Vegas) after they installed new BBI .1's and it runs baby-butt smooth now. No more 'miss' like it...
And...thanks for the test-info Cerb. I'll talk to the diesel shop about 'how' they perform their injector balance tests. I'm sure they're not doing what you suggest and obviously it's going to skew the results. I just sent an order to Martin for new .1's and after they're installed I'm...
Yeah.....I sent the same info to Martin and he said to pull all 6 and send them back to him. That's a full month without my truck so I think I'll purchase a new of new BBI .1's and install them and then send him the remans to try and figure out whats going on....then I'll keep them as back-ups.
Whew!
I've been running Archoil 6400 & 6500 for the past 10 years...but I do have some 'haze' because of the .5 BBI's
I'll put some 'Powerservice' in the tank at the next fill-up to see if it has any affect on the 'haze'. (thanks Oz!)
Just got the truck back from the diesel shop after a trans service, FASS service & misc. repairs. They performed an injector-balance test and here's the results.
#1 = 99%
#2 = 102%
#3 = 100%
#4 = 111%
#5 = 99%
#6 = 89%
Does this seem 'typical' for reman BBI's with 50'k miles on them?
2 years...
About 10 years ago I installed LED rear tail light assemblies in my 2004.5 Ram. They've been great until last week when the mounts on the drivers-side broke and I saw the light dangling behind my truck in the rear-view mirror. So I ordered new rear light assemblies from Amazon and the next night...
We had this discussion a while back. Years ago, I installed two volt-meters on the steering column in my truck so I could monitor each battery's voltage from the drivers seat in real-time. Here's the link to the photo's and our earlier posts. (scroll half way down the page to see photo's of my...
While inspecting a warehouse that was for sale here in Las Vegas last year, I met the buyer, Jorge. He is the owner of Auto Dynamic Services and specializes in automotive electrical diagnostics and programming. Among other things, they handle ECU diagnostics, repairs and programming. It was...
UPDATE: Received the injector back from Martin @ BBI and the truck runs like a champ now. He replaced the solenoid and remapped the injector to match the other 5 BBI's in my truck. Many thanks to Martin and the crew @ BBI for great work and a quick turn-around.
Yes...the shop installed new 6.7 feed tubes, which flow better than the old 5.9's.
Great thoughts all. I appreciate your feedback and after a trip to the shop tomorrow I'll get back with an update.
