I had a 2001 that had the same symptoms. Ended up being fuel pumps; both the lift pump and the injector pump had to be replaced.

I noticed after returning from a trip pulling my trailer( small trailer standard flat 4 plug) that my brake lights and my emergency flashers no longer work on my 2001. The running lights and turn signals work fine. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks
