Went through BlueChips diag. on the VP and found it to be bad...replaced the VP this weekend and truck is back up and running. Thanks guys for all the help. TJ
Belt, hoses, and t-stat are good idea at this point for sure and nothing wrong with getting them from Napa. I would do the belt tensioner as well if it has not been done. 190* stat will work best. Pretty sure it will come with a gasket, but if not RTV will work just fine.
Well, I did follow Sno's advice and went through Blue Chips trouble shoot and determined that the VP is indeed bad and have it one order....should be here Thurs. I did put a low pressure gauge on it but spoke to Rich at Glacier Diesel Power and at cranking the pressure is very low maybe only 2-3...
I've never ran into one that was so stubborn to bleed. It will fire off when I feed it some starting fluid so I know its got to be starved for fuel. All you do to prime this system is crank it and I talked to the guys at GDP and they said many of their customers run this pump without any assist...
So I recently tried to take a camping trip with my wife to go to the mountains but only made it 75 mi. and broke down at a truck stop. About 10 mi. from the truck stop the fuel light came on and when we pulled in it was very low on fuel. I was able to pull up to the pump with no running issues...
Have not been able to get a pressure gauge on it yet. Replaced the fuel filter. Had a Snap-On scanner and had no codes. Not sure what's going on at this point.
