Thanks for the replies everyone. He said it's shifting down to 5th. He expects it to pull hills in 6th.

    2017 Question

More for my BIL than me as I still have my 2008 . He bought a 2500 Tradesman with the 68rfe and stock 3.42 rear end. He tows a ~8000# bumper pull camper with it and said that on his first tow that off idle it was fantastic and got moving with no issue. Then he went up some small hills...

Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting Ruger Precision Rifle - 6.5CM

Was able to hit steel at 500-600 yards with ease. I'm new at long range shooting so I was happy with the results. I decided to sell the rifle and have a custom built. I'm building a 6.5x47 Lapua. That could change to a 6x47...

    Transmission issues?

Never said I believed him. Anything negative regarding these powertrains I hear are from Chevy and Furd people. BUT, I know next to nothing about the Aisin, hence my inquiry here. Thanks for the responses and pics everyone. Impressive numbers as well.

    Transmission issues?

So this is more of an inquiry than anything... Are the Aisin transmissions holding up on the 3500s to long towing? A sales guy at a local camper store is going around telling people that locals are swapping their Rams in for DMax or Furds. I haven't heard of anything negative with regards to...

Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting Ruger Precision Rifle - 6.5CM

The shop I bought it from had around 15 of them at that price. I think that price was good for the Gen 1. The Gen 2s are the ones that are up there.

Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting Ruger Precision Rifle - 6.5CM

Ugh...Completely forgot about this thread. It was a first generation model and I paid $999 for it. Best load was 41gr of H4350. Easily hitting steel at 500 and 600 yards.

I've always wondered....do you work for a Dodge dealer?

Was thinking about it last night and I know a gentleman who had a 2008 as well. He had the EGR and DPF intact while running Royal Purple. The service manual says that even while running synthetic, to change the oil every 7500 miles. He got busy and went 40k without changing it, or even the...

Unless all the oil has leaked out, wouldn't you still be running with oil?

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have a chat with him tomorrow about the above. Even if it's a burnt piston/scored cylinder, it's still not an easy fix.

Spoke with him today and he said that he can crank the engine and it runs/sounds fine. Then a minute or so later he can hear the knocking. Said there is a distinct metal on metal sound that denotes bearings. And he said he can smell it.

Educated guess. Gentleman who has it now works for the local Dodge dealer does work on the side. Said from what it sounds like, it's the rod bearing. I could slightly feel it when it started.

Sounds like one of my rod bearings has bit the dust. Truck has 230k miles, all stock except for tuning. I've spoken to one shop and he said swap engines and the guy who will be doing the work said it's the most cost effective way to go. Kind of leaning towards just rebuilding what I have and...
