    Turbocharger mystery

Scott, thanks to your info, I did a quick crawl-under and determined that I have the HE351CW, and apparently Fleece's info is incorrect, as my truck VIN is supposed to have the 341 (10th digit is a 4 and supposedly anything 4 and lower is the 341). Thanks for the quick reply, it saved me...

    Turbocharger mystery

So I've been looking at replacing perhaps upgrading the turbo in my signature truck due to a warp on the turbine flange, but I cannot get a straight answer as to what turbo I'm trying to replace. Fleece Performance says based on my VIN need the 03-04 turbo (HE 341 I believe) and also a lookup...

    Fried my Turbo

So I've been doing some preliminary research into turbo upgrades and am thinking of trying the Turbo Re-Source route also. My turbo has a warped exhaust flange and hairline crack between the turbine housing and the flange (no doubt impacting my boost and E-brake performance). I've been keeping...

    Annoying Pac Brake Issue

Wow I feel like a dummy! I've seen and used both types of those connectors! Just never thought of their proper name. :) Right now the connection is on the firewall where the wiring harness goes to the ECM I'm assuming? Where might I tap into that source under the dash inside? Just extend...

    Annoying Pac Brake Issue

John, thanks for promptly responding! Forgive my ignorance but what is a "non insulated" crimp connector? And if I was using a crimp connector is the solder necessary? Also, what location would you suggest? I see you also have a Pac Brake as well but I know on the 02 the ECM and assorted...

    Annoying Pac Brake Issue

Fellow enthusiasts: I have a rather annoying intermittent issue with my Pac brake wiring, hoping you all could offer suggestions. Every so often and especially after driving rough dirt roads my compressor and associated accessories do not function. I know the cause is that cheesy little T-tap...

    Shock replacement

Michael, are the ranchos monotube design? I definitely like them for the rough roads and heavy trailers we pull. DJ, I just put a set of KYBs on my wife's ride (see sig) they ride like a dream! I might end up putting a set on my truck as well, not to knock the Bilsteins but I like the price...

Rear axle oil seal leaking AGAIN!

Mark, in case you forgot or weren't aware, check your breather tube. I replaced a leaking oil seal on my wife's truck a few years back, started leaking out of nowhere... turns out the axle breather tube was plumb full of dirt and dust, which in turn blew out the axle seal. I now try and blow...

    air filters

Maybe that is what happened to me... I can't remember the PN for the filter they provided but it seemed too tight. So the proper 5.9 filter is the Wix/NAPA 9946? I definitely want to try and take advantage of the 4" version. Thanks for all the feedback!

    air filters

I gotcha John, just been out of the loop I guess! I would think the 4" would flow better it just seemed to be a tight fit compared to the 2". Maybe I should give her another try? If you know what is the fleetguard PN for the 4"? my local Cummins shop always pulls the AF4177 idk just curious...

    air filters

Call me a cynic but I always read "super high flow" as "super high silicon" in an oil analysis. I run the Wix 49946 with 4" pleat and always had good numbers. I just ran into a similar incident the other day I purchased a new air filter for my truck... the counter guy pulled up the 4" pleated...

    DPS versus BD Manifold Replacement

Scott, After driving with my Pac brake for almost a year now I have been having no trouble with the supplied generic toggle switch. To ease engagement I mounted it on the right-hand side of the driver's column just below the gauges, so I just switch it off/on with my shifting hand. I shift...

    DPS versus BD Manifold Replacement

Scott, if you haven't already taken the plunge, definitely go with Geno's on the manifold. They include the 89-07 gaskets for no additional cost! and no problem on the clamp advice, I figured it out too late and had to go back and install the new one, no biggie, just extra work ya know? I...

    DPS versus BD Manifold Replacement

Scott, I have been happy with my BD manifold. It even has a different tone than the old stock manifold, plus they are a quality product for a more reasonable price IMO. A word of advice on the Pac Brake, make sure you install a new v-band clamp on the elbow. I seals better than the old one...
