Bob 4X4, do you find that you run hotter with the two Hella lights where you have them? I have been looking at getting a set up like that but I dont want to compromise air flow. Also, how much higher (above normal high beams) do those lights illuminate in that position?
I would suggest the DD pan it really makes a big difference in trans temp. Since instalation I rarely go above 110 degees, usually 40-50 degrees above ambient temp. As Bob said it does not go below the cross member plus it is a serious upgrade in strength from the OEM pan.
My friend may have had the old wrangler tire. I have to admit I like the silent armour concept, they seem to be a step ahead on puncture resistance technology. I will say that after actually seeing the Wrangler Silent Armor in person (online it is difficult to get an absolute gauge of the tread...
I just put on 265 BFG A/T they are great in the snow so far and they seem to have only a slight increase in roll resistance in comparison to the Michelin LTX A/S I just took off. I too was looking at the Silent Armour but after speaking with a friend he said they were weak in the snow and ice.
I was hoping that you guys would be able to help me with some suspension questions. I am currently looking to upgrade my suspension to increase my front end ground clearance and make the truck a bit more capable for the winter months. I use my vehicle back and forth to work (all highway driving)...
I am curious what does the computer use to determine the outside temp? Is it the same as our overhead. If so is it as inaccurate as our fuel mileage readings?
I just put on BFG A/T 265 70 17 so far I am impressed with the ride and they are confident in the snow and ice (which is a concern where I live). I also like the look, even with the stock size they look tough. However if you don't plan on needing to go off road much and you have mild winters I...
I was under the impression (maybe wrongly so) that with the newer CI-4 oils they did a much better job suspending those smaller particles that cause wear. I agree with the idea of protecting the engine but I just can't justify the cost. In addition I am uncomfortable with adding aftermarket...
Are you going to do the filter to extend your drain intervals? If not I would think that the bypass is not going to give you the value - I think you would be better off changing your oil more frequently and that would accomplish your goal of protecting your engine; just my . 02 cents.
I may be in the minority here but I started using the Standyne Performance and found that it did well. However, I did some experimenting with other brands and found that Howes Diesel Treat is a very good product. It has really provided a clean idle on cold starts and has decreased the amount of...
My Dad has an 05 and I would say the noticable differnces between his truck and mine are accent you get on the door panels and in the middle dash near the radio(these can also be modified if you dont like the woodgrain), Radio is different as well IMO they made a significant upgrade with the...
Nice job on the conversion, the bed slide is nice. I am running for assistant chief so hopefully I will be mounting a light bar how did you do it ? The cheifs in my dept tend to go with the magnets I almost think those are just as bad as drilling holes in the roof. Stay safe!
Although this sounds very strange and I would be highly sceptical of the dealer. I was told on my wifes 07 Caliber (which is a terrible vehicle by the way) that the day time running light needs to shut off when the turn signal is on by a DOT mandate. I asked them if they were going to pay for...
I don't want to steer you wrong because amsoil atf is expensive but I was told I needed at least 10 qt (Mopar ATF+4) with the Mag Hy-tech DD pan by the transmission guy I went to. I ended up just buying three gal to be on the safe side.
