Usually the rubber, but my 2008 the bearing came out in pieces. And yep, it will scare the hell out of you when it does it. I wouldnt drive it much if at all with a bad carrier. Hard on the TC, Diff, and if it seperates that driveshaft will be like a big swinging steel jumprope
Yes, it was really just a guess, but on mine whatever the speed was to get the harmonics out of sync was when the shaft starting rotating in an ellipse vs a circle and the vibration was quite severe
My guess is the carrier bearing. Had the same issue on my 96, 2001, and 2008. Carrier bearing was shot on all three. There should be zero play in that joint i believe
Lift up the rubber boot just above the metal plate. There should be 4 or 6 screws holding the plate to the floor. Unscrew shift knob and slide the boot and plate off of the shaft.
Tim, in my case zero air was coming from the vents, and I could hear the blower motor straining to run. My truck had been in our fleet, and when the transmission finally gave up it got parked. It sat in our yard for almost six years before I dug it out and decided to get it running again. I gutted...
I JUST did this! Hopefully your airbox doesnt look like mine did! I took the whole thing apart and soaked it in baking soda and water to get rid of the smell of mouse piss. They didnt eat any wires thankfully, but man did they tear up the seats and took over behind the dash.
As far as parts are concerened, the only things I replaced were the core, evap, dash top and i did put a new drier and condenser with a new line between them, but those of course are in the engine compartment and in front of the intercooler. Ive had the dashes out of a number of my different...
Unless you're going to pull the entire HVAC plenum you will want swivel pipes. Ive had swivel pipe cores in my 01 for 200K, and my 07 for about 100k. Napa cores.
Looks like you’re towing, I think you’ll like the 5100s. I may wish I had gone that route. I’ve only pullled once with it. But I also put a 500 pound welder in the bed so I’m getting heavy without the trailer
I just put Bilstiens on all four corners of my 2001 that lived a real rough life in our fleet and I am restoring. I did the 4600 I believe and the ride quality is great !
