just bought a first gen 12valve!

I changed my lift pump on my 91. 5 the plunger feels much better now but the old one still primed the system. I use napa brand filters some others have been know to fail. There are a couple of inexpensive things for you to do to your truck. The exhaust is freed up so your egt's should stay...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) help with head gasket job

The valve springs are very easy to do later if you feel the need. Just compress your spring until the valve goes into the motor about a 1/4 inch. (BUT DO NOT REMOVE ANYTHING YET) I found turning the engine backwards easiest till the piston lifts the valve back up. Then your new parts can be...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) transfer case???????????

Ok I see what you mean. My girlfriend has the same set up on her 2000 1/2 to in the 44 model. Im in good shape then I don't have any of the weakness's you mentioned. I agree Dodge and Dana lost track for a bit but so did everyone else. They started catering to people that wanted a truck, but...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) transfer case???????????

That is some great info SRath. Why do you say the dodge has a fake D60? I have a D60 out of a 92 ford for another project, but I haven't put the 2 60's next to each other for comparison. I forgot to mention I have a 1st gen not a 2nd is the 1st gen D60 fake too? Hey Rattle trap I did keep my...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) transfer case???????????

Oh I see rattle trap. Thats odd though cause there is no need for an adapter for the swap I did. Smart on the builders part I guess, they kept the patter the same for both side drops. Travis

    6 volt coil

Got it going and the job done. I must not have gotten the points clean enough the first time. I just set them and closed everything up thinking that would fix it, next time I'll watch the arch first. Thanks for all the input. See ya Travis

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) transfer case???????????

If you took out one gear in the t-case you'll eventualy take out the rest. and you would know if you did by draining the oil.

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) transfer case???????????

Did the truck roll off the assembly line a standard or a auto. I would run a car fax or something to that effect that will tell you a little more about the truck. The bell housing could be causing some problems. Maybe putting the throw out bearing in a bind or the slave cylinder. I have never...

    6 volt coil

Thanks for the input guy's. The coil has just over 6 volts to it. It does have a resistor but doesn't seem to work. It shows 6 volts before and after it. I managed to get the points to arch so I am making head way. I cleaned them before posting, then messed around with them while I was waiting...

    6 volt coil

I know I know, we don't talk about points and coils on TDR. I have a 1945 ford 2N. I cant get it started and I have come to the conclusion that the coil is bad. I can't locate a 6 volt coil in town today, but I have a 12 volt coil I know is good. The only difference I can find is that when...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 4500 lube

I just looked at Geno's, They say the gl4 ruduces the amount of sulfer when hot over gl5. The sulfer attacks the soft metal in the trans. Also I'm not sure if they have bronze or carbon fiber composit synchros. NV5600 has one and NV4500 has the other. I managed to confuse myself on the subject...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 4500 lube

I was told the same thing as SRath it has to do with the synchros. In my opinion I would rather spend the money for the oil GM or Dodge put in them originally. (GM#12346190) It cost me about $130 just for the oil but that oils good for a ling time. I've herd of over 200,000 on an oil change with...

    On the Road, overheating, help!

Hey Don I think you should be able to slip the belts when your fan has engaged its self. Never under estimate the power of air. It is very hard to make air move at the rate we ask of our fans. Im just saying the fan clutch makes for a pretty positive lock. See ya Travis
