How can I quiet down my exhaust whistle?

if you have dpf back - what difference does any muffler make??? you WANT to hear the whistle - means the VGT slide isn't clogged up. all good. when you don't hear the whistle turbo is clogging.

    Thanks TDR

Have learned a lot from TDR and its membership over the past 6 years. Helped me understand if not solve a pressing problem on many occasions. Bought 2008 6. 7 new, my first diesel. It was quite the experience from the get go - the simply drive it CD... . Have never needed to know more about...

How Are the Emissions Systems in Fourth Generation Holding Up?

was talking to diesel expert (big rig regional sales manager) last night about EGR. He claimed that the amount (of exhaust) being pumped back into the engine has greatly been decreased thanks to SCR. Claimed something like 50% 2007ish to 13% now. Truth?

    half ton diesel - why?

My Ram/Dodge hasn't been in the shop for almost 2 years! Do the maintenance myself. So has gotten much much better after we made it through the first couple of years of frequent problems - sensors, cels, dpf, re flashes, turbo, cpi, radio, a/c, and probably forgetting a couple of things. Still...

    half ton diesel - why?

Thanks. Excellent point. Not questions to you but stuff I'm wondering now. Wonder how long it has been around there? I don't know. Did the wonderful EGR technology start there too? How long ago was that? How does their duty cycle differ from in the US? What has their experience been?

    half ton diesel - why?

OK - guess my start to this thread was WHY??? 1/2 ton diesel???? with all it's epa mandated garbage. Which will no doubt create MASSIVE problems given the duty cycle of a 1/2 ton... . Harvey who is a Cummins authority cannot possibly disagree??? What is the duty cycle of a Cummins???? Long haul...

    half ton diesel - why?

half ton diesel - WHY? "customers craving this" V6 3L turbo, egr, dpf, manufactured by italy's vm motori, owned by fiat/chyrsler & gm. What would the duty cycle need to be for this to be trouble free? since it's so much smaller than 6. 7 will be ok to get groceries? OK... will be interesting.

depends on what you're doing. if running/working it hard - it can.

electronic throttle control light comes on

first thing I'd try is disconnect the batteries, clean the terminals, and reconnect. had the lightening bolt a couple summers ago on my '08. swore the terminals were tight. bought battery cleaning kit, felt pads all that and noticed one was just every so slightly loose. no more lighting bolt...
