Yet Another Transmission Thread - 48re shift issues and more

I bought the truck 3 year ago and it had a DNJ components gov pressure solenoid already in it. I do not know how long it has been in there though. Even if I have the upgraded one they do still go bad is that correct? I also do not know if the TTVA has been advanced. Is there an easy way to...

Yet Another Transmission Thread - 48re shift issues and more

Update: U-joints are fine. No unexpected movement. I've noticed that when slowing down I see the edge says I'm in 2nd but I'm actually in 3rd. I can manually drop it down and feel it grab second. That explains the sluggishness I've had when taking corners, etc. It's fine during the 2-3 shift...

Steering play in wheel - Simple fix

Yeah it looks like the ones I bought are half the depth they should be. I ended up using two of them together on each side of the shaft which works out well because if I ever need to remove them to replace the shaft it'll be easier to break them out. I am all out of extras though.

Steering play in wheel - Simple fix

I didn't visually look at the other side but I did feel back there with my hand and it doesn't feel like the side I replaced. I'll double check it though. Thanks for the heads up.

Steering play in wheel - Simple fix

My little bag of nylon bushings arrived today and I dropped one in there. Had to tap it once with a hammer to seat it in the gap. I'll know tomorrow if it handles any better. So I have 9 of these little things left. If anyone needs one PM me your address and I'll drop one in an envelope and...

    Grease Driveshaft?

The first thing that comes to mind is that the you're not getting the zerk ball to open up. I would get a long nail or something that is pointed and push it in there to see if I could feel it move/open. I would then try the needle and see if I feel the same thing. If I didn't feel it move then I...

Yet Another Transmission Thread - 48re shift issues and more

Thanks for the reply, Cerb. It is a short bed. What is a good way to verify the amount of play in the transfer case? What is an acceptable amount?

Yet Another Transmission Thread - 48re shift issues and more

I've been tracking some issues with my '07 with a 48re. Hopefully the usual experts will poke their heads in here and chime in. Basics Bought in '13 and PO stated the transmission was a Suncoast. Visually it is the original case so if anything the PO upgraded internals. TC is gray, not orange...
