Well I bit the bullet today and ordered the Jordan brake controller. $145. 00!! I hope it works. After reading some threads on other boards, it seems that the Draw-Tite I have often contends with the ABS in the truck and causes bucking. I'll let all know how the Jordan works.
Just another thought on this problem. I don't have the shudder problem when the engine/transmission are cold. It's not until it warms up after about 5-10 minutes that this problem shows up.
Is that the same as with your shuddering problem?
If the problem is tied to the GSK, what might warming...
Thanks for the replies Rusty, Rich. The hitch I have is a RBW Lil' Rocker. The problem has been around since I bought the Fiver in 1998.
Rusty, I never thought the problem could be flexing in the hitch department. Maybe mine's doing the same. What did you do to fix yours? My son-in-law has...
I have a '97 3500 with an automatic. When I'm towing my 35' Jayco 5th wheel and apply the brakes, it often starts shaking and bucking when I apply the brakes especially when I'm starting out.
This is really scary since I have to let up on the brakes to stop it from happening and then I might...
Well I got into it again this morning and backed off the springs 3 notches (after I tightened them yesterday 2 notches). They are pretty loose now. I got my low end responsiveness back and the idle is back to normal (about 700 RPM in gear with A/C on). However the flutter/stumble is still there...
I have the 3K GSK and noticed the same annoying flutter problem after they were installed. I tried snugging the springs 2 notches last night. The flutter is still there, it just happens at a different speed (47mph instead of 42mph). I also lost a lot of low end responsivness and an increase in...
I wouldn't worry about it too much David. I've done a lot of mods to my truck and notice that mileage depends on a lot of variables. I drive 6 miles a day stop and go traffic every day to work and never go over 40mph. It never warms up. I average about 11mpg for everyday driving since I probably...
Funny thing though, if I make a run up past say 65mph and then floor it, the readings shoot way up past 400Hp. One time I got a reading of 500hp+ when going up hill. I must be doing something wrong. I think maybe the G-Tech should only be used on level ground.
I used the G-Tech as well and got some very strange results. I must say that with the mods I've made I expected much greater HP readings.
My g-tech times/figures were:
0-60 6. 55 seconds
1/4 mile 15. 5 seconds at 95 mph
305 HP for a 0-60 run
I've got a '97 3500 that I estimated my...
Brandon,
All done with the CA #8 jig. Do you want me to forward it on? If so, where to?
BTW, that thing is awesome. Many thanks and $25 will go to CPFF.
Dave
Brandon,
Tried calling you, but you must be a busy man.
I'd just like to get on the list for the CA KDP jig. I have a '97 and from what I've been reading, I'm getting nervous.

Thanks:)
Sounds about right. He just shouldn't leave it there too long. I start backing off of mine when it reaches 1300 EGT and I'm pulling a load and I never leave it there for more than 10-20 seconds just to play it safe. :)
Reddog,
I purchased the SPX kit and also bought 2 delivery valve seals (playing it safe) for my CA '97. Once disassembled, I noticed there were no seals in my CA pump. I don't know if this is the same for your '96 but I understand that 96/97 CA pumps are virtually identical. email me and I'll...
Joe G.
Have you done the tab fix? How long does it take? I've put in the GSK but it took me about 2 hours. Timing took me about 3 hrs. I'm guessing as an amatuer mechanic things take me about twice as long. Also, do you know where I can find instructions on how to do it?
TIA
Dave
As I've aked on another thread, was just wondering if anyone has dimensions, exact drilling locations, drill bit size, drill depth or anything else that would enable someone to put in the fix without using the KDP jig. Or is this just too risky to try?
