Been thinking about bullet proofing the transmission onmy 2006

The 2005 in my signature is approaching 200K miles with a stock 48RE. I pull a 28' enclosed trailer that weighs just shy of 11,000 loaded up every other weekend from April - October (it's also a daily driver). I've drained the fluid (out of the pan only), replaced the filter, and adjusted the...

    Oil Pan Corrosion / Leaking

I just got off the phone with Travis at SnoDepot, their price is $695 which includes the gasket, and the drain plug. Its 304 stainless. The OE replacement is $475 at Geno's. After having done this job myself, I think I would spend the extra $220 and get the stainless one.

    Oil Pan Corrosion / Leaking

mwilson, I was able to clear the sump when I did mine. Lifted the engine about 3 inches, and was able to clear, no issues.

    Windshield washer juice

I used to pour some isopropyl alcohol in my fluid resorviour in the winter. Worked fairly well, but I did get some streaking. I have had really good luck with the Rain X De-Icer fluid. The main problem was my 2006 Dodge Magnum, had major issues keeping washer fluid from freezing on that car...

    Up grade my radio!!

Hammer, that is where I got my bezel from, guy was very helpful, I called a couple times with questions. Also RV, I looked into that when I started radio shopping. The cost of the replacement bezel, and the factory radio with the blue tooth, GPS, etc made me go aftermarket. The factory bezel is...

    Up grade my radio!!

I put a double din in the 2005 in my signature. My wife wanted blue tooth for her phone, and music for our kids. I got a Sony radio we've been pretty happy with. I found the new dash bezel on ebay, there are a bunch of colors available. It is basically an ABS plastic piece wrapped in whatever...

AirDog quality and customer service issues

Bummer. My AirDog failed 8 months in, they sent me a replacement no questions asked, claimed they had a bad batch of pumps. I've got 15 months, and 25K miles on the replacement with no issues, knock on wood. I will keep an eye on it. One question, is yours mounted inside or outside the frame...

    Winter Front Question

As I mentioned above, I never open my flaps. Had the truck out yesterday with the cover, with temps here in southeast, MI around 57. Truck never got much above 200° which is exactly where it runs most of the time. 200 won't hurt anything. This is an aftermarket gauge too, not the factory one.

    Winter Front Question

One other thing I noticed. The Geno's cover, while patterned after the Mopar cover is slightly different. There are only two flaps on the Geno's piece that roll up and secure with velcro. Work very well, and stay in place when you do roll them up. There is one at the bottom of the cover, down...

    Winter Front Question

I have the Geno's cover, highly recommend it. I just installed it last night as the arctic temps have come early here in Michigan (and around most of the country). I take it off in the spring, haven't used it as a bug shield, but as I stated, would recommend it for winter use. This will be the...

    Oil Pan Corrosion / Leaking

Larry, Only thing I had to remove was the motor mount bolts, nothing else. Lifted the engine a little better than 3" to get the pan out between the cross member and the oil pick up tube. I would recommend lifting it like TRAMPLINEMAN did, and not like I did which was using the shipping hook...

Upgrading to 3rd generation quad cab?

Tarheel, Can't help with all your questions, but I can say that I "upgraded" from a 95 to a used 2005 6 years ago, also going from a 5 speed to an automatic. I have the 48RE in my truck, 190,000+ as I type this, and no transmission issues. Struggled with axle joints and ball joints up front with...

power lock failing on back door?

AKorn, not all that complicated as I've patched once before. Probably still be a couple weeks before I get to it, but when I do, I will post some pics.
