Another vote for the amp steps. Once you have them you'll never go back. No slippy slide getting out of the truck. Easy to get in with your hands full of puppy.

You might want to run down your road with someone behind you to watch. That Rock Tamer may be hitting the ground, or just close enough to create a wind tunnel effect and actually be throwing rocks up. Then remove the rock tamer one time and try it again to see if that is the problem.
