A quick update for anyone following along. I replaced the rubber bits in the turbo/intercooler/intake plumbing and the temps came down quite a bit, but are still higher than they would normally be. Now, instead of cruising on a flat stretch of interstate at 1300 degrees, I'm a bit below 1000...
My entire EGR system was removed for about 360,000 miles and other than the CEL being on nothing else happened. No limp mode, no issues. I don't think it had any effect on the DPF, at least not any negative effect as my original DPF lasted around 360,000 miles too. The only thing I noticed after...
I put together a intake leak tester today and quickly found a couple of leaks. One, that's pretty bad is in a worn area on the short hose that comes off the turbo. I also felt a slight bit of air movement on the other side around where the hose connects to the intake horn. 400,000 miles on these...
I figured out the exhaust pressure sender thing. In one of those, just as your falling asleep moments of enlightenment it hit me. The 25psi engine off reading would be right for inches of mercury. I hooked up my laptop this morning and I'm sure that's whats going on. Both the inlet air pressure...
Another question.
Does anyone here have access to a scanner that will allow them to look at specific senders to see what they are reporting? I was looking around with my Autoenginuity package today and noticed that with the engine off my exhaust pressure sender reports about 25psi. I would...
I checked the gauge in boiling water and it's within a few degrees of being correct. Plus the pyrometer itself looks pretty much new.
OK, I cant get out and get all the detail your asking for right now but I can tell you my current idle EGT's are pretty much normal for this truck. Mine are...
I could use a little diagnostic help here. Just to check I'm maybe heading in the right direction...
My issue is high EGT's. At idle things are fine but once running EGT's are constantly quite a bit higher than I would consider normal. Cruising down the road, flat terrain, no load, and I can...
From what I've read EB your going to be fine with your 07. Apparently the law exempts anything older than an 08. So for you its just a matter of how the company you work for wants to operate, if they do or don't care and will try and force you to go electronic. I don't know about my company but...
Hey EB, Its been a while since I was here, good to see your still running around and your truck is still hanging in there. I stopped hauling in October of 04 and am now getting setup to come back in again. Its been a lot slower up here in Colorado too but that's OK. Cant say I really want to...
Thanks Mike, I appreciate the offer to help and if need be will be in touch. There is a good Cummins dealer pretty close to me, I've worked with them before but always seem to forget them as a resource. Now though the EGR is taking a back seat as it looks like my turbo is heading south. The...
Anyone have a recommendation for a supplier of less expensive parts? Less expensive than the dealership at least? I'm in need of an EGR cooler and am hoping to find one for less than the $900 plus the dealer wants.
Thanks for any help,
Ed

And this one:http://tinyurl.com/mrrnmop
These are the first couple I found. I don't really know if they are different from each other, could be the same item modified by a third party. Either one though are cheaper than I'm finding from on-line factory...
I need to replace the EGR cooler in my 08 CC and have noticed that there are several aftermarket items available which tend to be a little cheaper, and claim to be better, than the factory supplied part. Has anyone any experience with these?
Thanks,
Ed
I'm watching the time since last regen, and its always been consistent at around 72,000 seconds or 20 hours. A bit shorter or longer dependent on the load and kind of driving I've been doing and once that I noticed about twice as long on a particularly hard heavily loaded run. My recent driving...
