I just flipped over when I took the photos. It was installed correctly. If you look carefully at the direction of the bend, you can see that it is bent back on the pleats. The ire was facing up and was shoved up into the intake hose. The rubber gasket is torn where it was ripped out of place...
I just saved some pics off of my phone. Like I said, the filter had "sucked up" into the inlet pipe going to the turbo. This blocked the filter-minder, so I suspect it happened soon after I installed it.
