I've now tested the POD and it works fine; unless your on glare ice or something else specialized I too wouldn't run below 85. This issue seems to be only related to the Scout's POD feature set.
While I agree with you about the POD creating the root of the problem, but the Scout's warm-up feature doubles the complexity since it wants to start the truck at level 49.
I've been fighting this issue for over a year and after finding it I HAD to share it with the community. If you use a Scout II you really need to pay attention to this:
The Scout II does 3 things: 1) Digital gauge pack 2) Smarty POD control 3) Warm-up protection using POD control

Instead of starting this thread over:
I have a 06 auto that is giving me fits. If it's going under the knife, what common upgrades should every ~06 owner plan on making? I'm not dragging the truck or trying to win a tow competition. I just want a very reliable transmission that can put the power...
I just converted both of my AA maglites to the nite-ize 1Watt LED. I'm super impressed and it makes the old classics very worthwhile again.

It surely did. At least I have a direction or some semblance of knowledge when I go see our transmission guy. I think my surging once it find a gear is a different issue though. Thanks again for the help.
Folks, I'm having several issues that may or may not be related with my transmission. I bought the truck with 30k on it, and it now has 36k. transmission fluid is in very good shape with no smell to allude to misuse and the fluid is exactly at the full/max/hatch line.
The truck is starting to surge in...
Amazon has a decent deal on Royal Purple:
15-40, 5 Gal, for ~$126 with free shipping. Where I live that's a pretty decent deal.

Minus the canbus adaptor that we are forced to buy - this is why I NEVER buy the nice stereo. The nice speakers and deck you spend $1200 for are quite cheap when you compare them to a $1200 aftermarket setup. Sure it takes effort/time, but I bet a stereo shop would sell and install it all for...
When you do it, drop by Home Depot (ect) and pick up some *****ithane strips or the like (non-sanded of course). They're cheap so you don't have to buy the entire roll $80 and the adhesive will outlive the truck. Lay strips inside the door anywhere that there is a flat surface - but make sure...
I found that my 06 is very sensitive to my air filter getting dirty. Even with my 'filter-minder' reading in the green still, the mileage drops pretty fast when the filter starts to fill up. I'd change the air filter, and run a bottle or two of power service through her and see where you're at...
Update, I just finished the weekend towing a 4 place enclosed trailer with 3 quads in it. Total weight, a hair shy of 5k. Not the 6k I was originally towing, but pretty close. Tow haul works beautifully now; she stills lugs a bit when overdrive comes on, but I've heard that from most 4spd...
Just a flash, no parts that I'm aware of. It's gotta be putting %40 more power to the ground than the flash it had on it which I'm assuming is the original.
Ok, so picked the 06 up from the dealer. I have not had a chance to tow with her yet, but at this point one could convince me that they replaced my transmission this afternoon. It's that much different. It finally drives how one would think this truck should.
Tow haul - messing around and...
