Something is damaging my water pump impeller

I am on the third water pump in 3 months. It seems something is causing damage to the impeller. The last one I pulled out looked like someone hit the impeller with a hammer or something. Its almost as if there is something somewhere in the coolant that might be causing this but how it got there...

    12v 96'Suburban swap

Suburban Update Posting an update on the Burb. She is still running good. I got some new tires about two months ago. New wheels also. Had to change out a water pump, serpentine belt about three months ago. A thermostat today. Other than that she is still running steady. Going on 4.5yrs since...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Engine oil leak in my 1998 12 valve

If you say it looks fresh right behind the dampner. It most likely is the front seal leaking and the fan blowing it back over the motor. I agree with hsmith, the bolts that hold the front timing cover on are just as important to address when you get the timing cover off. I did the KDP on both my...

    72 c10 12v cummins swap

I like the idea of this build but I also have the mindset that the 1/2 ton frame, suspension, brakes are just not up to the task. You can probably box the frame enough to handle the weight but the brakes, springs, A arms are a different story. If you drive it like a grandma you might be able to...

Best baked on oily dirt remover?

Diesel fuel with a stiff bristle plastic brush( Not a wire brush) works good too.

    12v 96'Suburban swap

Just wanted to post an update. Went thru the front end. Upgraded to 1 ton springs in the front. Replaced two tie rod ends and the wheel bearings on one side. Brakes up front and also bigger sway bar in front and added a sway bar in the rear. The CTD is running strong as ever. Starts up...

    12v 96'Suburban swap

Yes 2wd. It was built primarily to haul the family around in. Part of me would like to have a 4wd but at the time the swap on the 2wd made more economical sense. Do you still have your 1983 Suburban? I think I would like to do a 4bt in a 1/2ton something in the future. Maybe a square bodied blazer.

    12v 96'Suburban swap

It would work but it would be a lot of weight on the 1/2 ton suspension. My burb is a 2500 and I noticed a big difference when I put the CTD in. I just went thru the front end and switched over to 1ton springs up front because of that.

    12v 96'Suburban swap

The Suburban is still running good. Runs a lot smoother since I rebuilt the injectors. Has some occasional surging. Not sure why Hoping it is not the injector pump but will replace/rebuild if it keeps up. Getting ready to go thru the front end as well as replace front coils with 1ton springs...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Intermediate steering shaft

Yes , I had my son turn the wheel back and forth and I got underneath the truck and the intermediate shaft was the only place I could see movement between components.

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) New 12V Owner, Need input on 12V care and maitenance

If you havent already put it on your to do list. Take a good look at the intermediate steering shaft when you go thru your steering. They are notorious for early wear on these trucks. I just replaced mine and it took all the "Wander" out of the steering.

Hello all. New 1st gen owner here w/ Q's.

The gov spring will just control the rpm in which the pump limits the rpm of the motor. Just because you upgrade the gov spring does not mean you have to increase fuel. As far as the pump goes, dont let it intimidate you. You have to open it up to change the gov spring but not completely. I...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Intermediate steering shaft

I recieved the new shaft today and got it installed. The build quality is far superior to the factory piece. It also has a collar that prevents the upper piece from sliding down should the shaft become separated inside the steering column. This is a safety feature to cover a safety recall on all...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Intermediate steering shaft

I will post feedback after I install the new shaft. The factory one had a lot of slop in one of the universal joints so Im expecting the new shaft to tighten up the play in the steering wheel a good bit. On a side note I just noticed how long you boys have been on TDR. You guys are part of the...
