converting a 1st gen club cab to a crew cab shorty

I was able to get the crew cab placed onto my 19ft car trailer. This was accomplished by using a tractor w/bucket. The plan worked perfectly, now I have all the parts/pieces I need for the conversion. Right now I am just trying to research and get the above questions answered... ...

converting a 1st gen club cab to a crew cab shorty

Ok folks, I now have a crew cab and short box standing by for my conversion. I do have a few questions... ... ... ... Is the front 2 body/cab mounts the same location for both the club cab & crew cab? Does anyone make replacement crew cab body/cab mounts? How high does the rear floor...

converting a 1st gen club cab to a crew cab shorty

Does anyone know what the weight of the crew cab itself? (minus doors and all of the interior items) I was wondering if 3-4 people could lift the cab or is it just too heavy?

converting a 1st gen club cab to a crew cab shorty

Yes, I absolutely agree! I have never been a fan of body lifts. The truck is already high enough for me. I think notching the rear floor is not a bad job. I have a good wirefeed welder and the floor doesn't require flawless body work. I was able to find someone on Cardomain.com that did the...

converting a 1st gen club cab to a crew cab shorty

Yup! :-laf I am aware of the "hump" in the frame on the club cab. I have heard of several people cutting the crew cab floor (where the rear seat is) to make it work. I have also heard that a large body lift clears the frame. I am curious if any on here has done it?

converting a 1st gen club cab to a crew cab shorty

Thanks for the offer. I am actually interested in putting the crew cab and shortbox onto my 93' W250 chassis. I wonder where the rear cab mounts will have to be placed for the crew cab?

converting a 1st gen club cab to a crew cab shorty

Has anyone used their 1st gen club cab chassis/running gear and swapped on a crew cab & shortbox? I have seen pics of it done once or twice. I am really wanting to do the same thing and would like to talk with someone who has first hand knowledge of the conversion. I specifically would like to...

    Block heater parts?

You are asking about a direct replacement block heater unit? I know Geno's Garage sells them for a great price. They carry the cord and the heating element. Hope this helps!

    Balancer Removal?

I was able to shock it a little with the flex-handle and then they would unscrew with a little effort.

    New Radiator

I have not had to repair or replace my 1st gen radiator. I'm sure an industrial radiator shop in the Puget Sound area could get what your looking for. I am just glad that these tanks are not plastic like newer vehicles! :-laf So is the tank leaking or someplace on the fins/core?

    Balancer Removal?

My balancer was pretty tight when I took it off for the 1st time. I ended up using a flex-handle w/cheater bar. If your's has never been off, it might be pretty tough.

Who has gone from a Hughes to a top-end torque converter?

I could be mistaken, but I thought I remember someone on TDR running a Hughes Converter and then later going to a DTT or Goerend. I honestly want to hear a "real-world" story on someone who started with a stock converter, went to a Hughes, and then swapped in one of the big 3 (DTT, Suncoast...

    A518

I have taken my transfer case off twice before. The very first time I don't remember seeing any gasket between the T-case and transmission tail. Both times I ended up using some quick gasket maker called: "The Right Stuff". This stuff comes in a small, black aerosol can. I believe it is pricey...

    Piston lift pump conversion

Nah, I read the thread over @ 1stgen.org I was looking for part#'s regarding the actual low-pressure spring or maybe a low-pressure piston lift pump rebuild kit. Neither part #'s have turned up. I called Cummins NW and no such items are available. The way I see it now, a person has 2 choices...
