I think Daniel Stern doesn't like LED headlight bulbs because the original style housings were never intended or designed to be used with LED bulbs. Most LED "replacement/upgrade" bulbs are NOT DOT approved either. I did the Sport Headlight conversion on my '96 3500 with Daniel Sterns plug and...
I used the Dorman brand aftermarket Sport lights per Daniel Stern's recommendation,Daniel Stern's pre-made harnesses with Philips Xtreme-Vision 9004 and 9007 bulbs. The difference in visibility is amazing...The Oem or aftermarket housings aren't designed for LED bulbs....
I have a 2nd Gen and have driven it many miles at night before I did the Sport headlight conversion. It is a huge improvement. I wasn't happy about having to do some cutting to make the Sport headlights fit either. I fit them and primed and painted the areas that were cut. It was worth it!
I was simply sharing what I was told by Daniel Stern Lighting. He was adamant about running both filaments at the same time. I really don't see a need to, but to each his own....I really don't see why it would be necessary. It makes that much of a difference going to the Sport light set up.
I'm not familiar with the harness that LMC sells. I ordered mine from Daniel Stern Lighting. They were spendy but worth every penny. They are of high quality and they hook to the battery for taking all of the strain off of the factory wiring and switch. Any harness that lights both low and high...
I did this conversion several months ago. I also have an aftermarket bumper so I didn't have any problem getting at the bolts or removing/installing the lights. On my '96, I did have to do some cutting of sheet metal to fit the Sport headlights but it wasn't difficult at all. Once I had them...
Well, I got a rebuilt transmission installed, added a temperature gauge and installed a pair of Fast coolers. When I was talking to different folks about why my transmission was howling 15,000 miles after a bearing kit and I had a guy tell me that it's because of the heat these NV 4500 build when...
Well....It costs about 5200$ for all of the accessories and then you have the cost of the Allison. They offer a Suncoast rebuilt based on their specs for an additional 3500$. They said it was possible to source a good used Allison for less. They told me if I sent them a serial number of an...
I spent the weekend doing research on transmission options....Although this option is out of my budget at the moment, I'm very intrigued by www.caconversions.com For those of you that have the space to do this conversion, I think it's the best option out there but it isn't cheap. I did call and...
We made it home without the camper. 4th gear 62 mph non-stop. When we got off the interstate and had to go through the gears, it didn't sound any better or worse. It still shifts nice and smooth, just noisy....I'm getting quotes of 1750$ to 1850$ to rebuild it. Is there any other options for a...
