Alrightythen, I'll order a kit from them (OAI) when I return from the trip. There should be about 7000 on the oil when I get back. This time I'll sample from the dipstick instead of from the drain outflow.
I too am wanting to see the copper and iron values decrease.
Do you have a sample of...
Thanks for having a look, I wasn't sure if the CGI engine would leach anything unusual that would skew the results.
This sample was at 29600+ with three oil changes before it.
Most of that last oil change was towing from Caldwell, to Tucson and other parts of Arizona and back in March, April. A...
Oh well, 47 views and no responses.
I will have to delay being concerned until there are three or more UOA reports from my engine to compare.
This snapshot and sample set of 1, isn't enough to determine if there are any issues or not.
I haven't posted on here for quite a while, primarily because all has been going well and I'm not as savvy as many here, to respond to questions posted.
At the third oil change (29671 miles 107 hours idle 619 driving 726 on engine) I had my 1st oil analysis done by the local caterpillar shop...
short update:
Bought the TRIMAX THC250 anti-rattle clamp, but haven't used it with the RV, only a lightly loaded utility trailer. It works quite well for taking up the slack in the shank. I asked TRIMAX if this was rated for an RV.
Their response was evasive.
"Our manufacturing and procurement...
yesterday, the new 2.5 shank and the straight pin have arrived. Its actually a Blue OX shank but not at the cost I first saw. I tried to get it locally, but they were still real close to $250. I found an OEM Blue OX shank for $157 on Amazon, and installed the WD Head on in this afternoon.
I...
I'll need to reconsider what I was first imagining of how the forces apply in this case. At first, it appears that the loop of metal around the stinger, was acting as a fulcrum between the adjustment bolt and the block of metal under the stinger causing the block to push up at the same time as...
@odinjunior OK, now it's clearer, thanks for the pictures! I had envisioned the "U" Shaped version from the web page. The pictures show exactly why a "U" shaped one won't work, the loops are too close to the receiver.
As mentioned by AH64ID, John, doesn't that put all of the weight of the...
Before buying, I did some checking on my truck. I do like the idea of the Hitch Clamp (Manufacturer Website), however, in the infinite wisdom of the designers of the RAM hitch, they put huge "ears", or chain loops on the hitch, making the clearance between the bottom of the receiver tube and...
@AH64ID Thanks John for the information.
I'm on the hunt for a 2.5" Shank that fits without too much slop, otherwise there won't be much improvement over what's there. Another poster suggested a straight pin, which looks like it would reduce the damage caused by the angle in the pin, but not...
I'm considering what Ozymandias said earlier. Find a shank that is 2.5" and mount the Blue Ox Head on it.
The drop shank at Blue Ox is $295. I'm sure there are others. Combining that with a straight pin, may help with reducing further wear on the hitch. Still need to chat with the dealer...
I agree, a #8 bolt would work great, it defeats my intent of removal at that campsite or at home. It can be a real pain, literally, when you forget there is an extra 1.5' of hitch at thigh height, that's greasy.
I haven't located a hitch clamp that will fit a 2021 Ram yet.
If you have used...
To be clear, because maybe I'm using the wrong term.
This is the adapter I'm referring to, #5 below. It's standard with the new hitches as you already know.
Aside from buying a new blue ox WD hitch with a 2.5" stinger, I'm stuck with using the adapter, slack or not. It's not in the budget.
I...
