    2004 5.9 dipstick location

Yeah, found it. Duh. Was looking in all the wrong places. A lesson in searching is not to pre-assume you know where something is and end up with a closed mind. I always in the past had the dipstick on the side of the engines so ignored looking anywhere else. Lesson learned. Thanks for your...

    2004 5.9 dipstick location

I feel really dim since I cannot location the dipstick. Have yet to use a flashlight which may help. And, since it is a 2004, the owner's manual has been misplaced so that is no help. Tried Google search for dipstick location and got a bunch of no-help responses. In the past I have always had a...

Battery replacement - how to and any problems?

The 2005 RAM is a May 2004 Cummins. Two batteries. Had AutoZone check and was told they should be replaced. Something about not doing well under load. The said he thought they might be the original batteries. Have not checked my maintenance records so cannot confirm at this point. Since our...

    Used Motorhome

Shadrach, Your situation is rare and you are lucky to be in a position to have experience with things most of us do not. Our travel season varies but we too deal with snow and ice. We are on our 5th fifth wheel. It's our second home so to speak. After 30 years of shoveling snow I am looking...

    Used Motorhome

I have considered and thought about a motorhome for what seems like years. But we always come back to a fifth wheel. For many of the reasons stated here. A big factor for me, besides the initial cost, is reliability and potential costs and inconvenience down the line if something goes wrong. I...

    # 4 Injector line

Had #5 fall at 75,000. Replaced and now have #4 and #5 from Geno's and will carry in the truck. Have also read that #1 and #6 can fail. Crap. Replace them all? Are all upgraded or just #4? And when installed, do they need to be set to a specific torque number?

K&N Air Filter - worth it?

Did the search, read the results, glad I asked. Will stick with stock filters from Geno's.

K&N Air Filter - worth it?

Driving a 2004 5. 9 and wondering: Many I talk to think the K&N Air Filter is the hot setup. Is it really and is it worth it? And while we are on the subject of mods, what about a replacement exhaust vs. the stock?

#5 injector line cracked, #4 next?

Driving a 2004 with 74,500 miles on it when the #5 injector line cracked and sprayed diesel throughout the engine compartment. Was fortunate to be near a mechanic who spotted the problem and it was quickly fixed. After reading some posts on TDR I see that the #4 is the most often the one to fail...
