On a whim I disconnected both batteries and left them that way for 2-3 days.
In he process, put some new cables on and new batteries.
Fired it back up, and I'll be darned it starts in 2nd gear like...
is yours automatic or manual?
Mine is manual, no vacuum control under the driver side battery. It is a 6-speed
so I believe it is controlled thru the ECM
Says in the book P0577 is cruise control input circuit high. Can somebody please tell me what this is, and maybe how to fix it?
My cruise control is sporadic. When on, it will work for a while, then takes a notion to drop out. Or, it will surge, generally around 70 mph.

I'm trying to find out the terminology (can't remember to save my life) for when you take off from idle in second gear, and you don't give it quite enough throttle - the engine will ramp up a little so you don't kill the engine.
What is that called? And any ideas why mine isn't doing that...
I know this has probably been hashed over a bazillion times, I'm going on a long trip and I would sure feel a lot better if I had a fairly easy to install kill switch somewhere.
I tried getting at the one on the clutch pedal, but phew! pretty tough.
