I bought mine in March of 09 and it has been to the shop for one thing - the TSB'd windshield wiper motor - replaced under warranty - other than that, it's the best truck I've ever owned. The power is awesome, i'm averaging 18mpg on the highway, and the engine brake is the best thing since...
Champy,
Jim W is correct. The system on our trucks uses a number of different factors in determining when to change the oil. If you have been doing a lot of city driving, expect to get between 2-3000 miles. Now, if your a fan of keeping the original oil in there for 5K - for break-in purposes -...
Not that I'm aware of. The big plan was to make all of the changes to the 2010. Personally, I wanted the 2009 because of it's "utilitarian" build, rather than the "plush" build of the 2010.
Berrigan -
The honest answer is NO - however, the DPF is here to stay thanks to our friends in the EPA. The whole trick to owning one of these trucks is to work the hell out of it. If you plan to use it for a grocery getter - keep the 98 that you have. But if you do plan to work it, they are...
I've had my 09 since February and now have over 12K miles on it. The only issue that I have had was getting the windshield wiper motor replaced (a known issue that has a TSB). Otherwise, I love the truck. The power is amazing, the exhaust brake w/ tow haul mode is incredible and the milage is a...
Thanks for the reply Juiced - Just curious, I noticed that you are running a set of Bilstein shocks - did you have the tires on prior to those shocks? Just making sure that when I order these tires I don't need to upgrade my shocks at the same time.
Thanks again.
Does anyone have experience with a 305/70/17, on our factory 8" rims?
I've read a number of posts with guys that are running 35's on the factory rims that don't seem to have any problems, but when you look at the "recommended" wheel width for a 305, it says 8. 5".
Is there some type of...
Interesting read - thanks for the article harvey. I also found the comments about B20 interesting. Previously, I thought that we were only able to run B5, not B20.
Estarns - thank you for your detailed reply to my question. I am planning on adding the Edge Insight to my truck next month. A little off topic, but are you happy with it's performance? And how much did you pay to have it installed?
Thanks for all of the replys gents. I guess I was expecting it to more ov an "event" than it has been. I also thought that something would come up on the overhead that said "regen in progress" or something like that. As for the comment regarding milage - I'm averaging a steady 15mpg (hand...
Love my 09
Lonestar,
I've been hanging around this forum for the last two years (along with the dieselplace and cummins forum). In that two years, I saw a lot of traffic reagrding regen problems and various other issues with the 2007. 5 -6. 7 and with the Duramax. In my opinion, this is to...
