Has no one heard of Mumby Hitches??? Up here they are way cheaper cost than B&W. I have used them on four different trucks over the last 20 years hauling up to 20k trailers both machinery and livestock. Stout and stand up to salty roads.
It was super simple to mount the last one on my 2018...
The purpose of over filling is (and someone correct me if I am incorrect) to ensure proper lubrication of the upper shaft... rear bearings? Splash lubrication is marginal. I think Standard Transmission guys might be the experts on this. But too much oil is also poor. I have tried 7 litres and...
When you changed the oil on the trans how much brass sludge was in the bottom? The syncros are brass right? Those filings won't stick to magnets? There is always a brass slime in the bottom when I service mine and I try to wipe as much as reasonable out with a clean rag before closing up the...
Take time and make sure you have a full 6 litres in it. Then drive the truck for a bit getting used to the transmission. It is not a quick shifter. A good way to get used to a trans is once rolling from a stop treat it like a class 8 truck trans don't use the clutch for shifting other than to...
Update: Problem Fixed.
It was harness corrossion on the leads going to the six pin xfer case position sensor. Shop forman at dealership could see on his laptop the failed communication back from the position sensor when a request for shift was sent to the motor. i.e. wire problem. If I had not...
I have a 2005 with the NV273D electric shift transfer case.
The shift motor stopped working and I replaced it with a new OEM unit and new ends on the wiring harness. New shift motor works fine hanging under truck plugged in but not bolted on.
Transfer case shifts fine with crescent...
I purchased this set and installed them. They were supposed to be BD 60hp injectors. I have very noticeable increase in power but lots of smoke on demand. There is a more lumpy idle (like an old Mack truck when it is cold) and lots of light blue smoke after start up when idling the tends to go...
Just pull the box off
For the tank vent kit do not hesitate to pull the box off. Two guys can pick the single wheel box and you just need a couple of sawhorses to park it on. Takes about 20 minutes to remove and much less pain on the tank project. A dually box with running boards, mudflaps, and...
Lower front engine oil leak
I first changed the crank seal but found that the timing case to block gasket was the source of oil leak. Don't be mislead by oil pan leak, after all you can't properly fix the timing gear case to block gasket without dropping the pan anyway!
It's not cheap if...
CM deck wiring
I installed a CM deck on my 3500. You have to carefully use the correct wires to feed the tail lights, licence, and park lights. Pay lots of attention to grounding, not only to connecting the grounds to the harness wires but to also ground the deck directly to the frame and up to...
Worry about filtration and quality fuel
I have 235000 km on original FCA still going strong. All the farm diesel is treated at the bulk tanks for lubricity using (I think) a quality product. I also have GDP 2 micron filtration as well. Finally cracked #4 injection line last month -- there's...
I have now over 220,000km on my truck and it is starting to take slightly more cranking to start each time. I'm putting in a rail pressure gauge hoping to learn more. My lift pump is putting out 15psi, but I decided it is time to move up to 50hp injectors.
Making some calls to fine a new set...
why didn't I think of that
Well, I admit I did not check for leaks in the piping or cracks in the intercooler tanks.
Why would I not hear a problem at full throttle load if there was a leak somewhere? Anyway, still a good suggestion.
I'll check and post back this weekend. Thanks. Oo.
