    guys, I replaced the VP44 with a used one. It took care of the problem. Everything seems ok now. It appears that this is the answer. .

    Thanks for the info. Any suggestions on where to get a pump. On e-bay they all look to be in the $1000-$1100 range.

    I was afraid the problem was linked to the vp44 but because of good performance after the engine warmed up I thought that it might be the intake air temperature sensor that was sending a false signal to the pump. I checked the engine coolant sensor and it was within specs according to my Haynes...

    i'll have to chime in on this problem with the cold run also. I have a 2001 that does the same thing for the first mile or so. Mine does show a "soft code" of P0216 which I understand from everything I've read so far that I need to replace the injector pump. I'm just not yet convinced that this...
