Creaking noise behind drivers seat
Take a look at this link ; http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/tsb/1995/23-52-95a.htm I bought a used 94 that had these cracks in the cab. Bought the parts and fixed it myself. It was quite a job, but not impossible.- JCurtis

I think my first post was misleading. The noise I heard did not occur when I started to pass but while I was passing. Anyway, I was sure that it was serious enough to leave metal evidence behind. Last week as I started to pass another car in 5th, I heard/felt two quick pulses of something WRONG in my drivetrain.
