I haven't pulled mine in while stock, but with the smarty jr. on the towing setting I was unpleasantly supprised to find mine bowed and crinkled up at less than 15K. I am a farmer that uses my truck for some off road towing and driving, but for the most part it pulls trailers on the highway or...
I've been going through an airfilter every 10K. I'm not on dirt that much. The latest one tried to collapse and go up the intake tube. Why oh why would they engineer a smaller airfilter than on 12v's for a truck with way more horsepower? Suggestions please. I would like a paper filter that I...
I agree with the Bradfords looking nice. I got mine at a farm sale for $650 with tool boxes. It's not a bradford though, just a trailer shop jobbie. Works the same just doesn't look as nice. Might call around for a used one and save some serious $$$.
Thanks for the picks, that's exactly what I'm talking about. I'd only be in the 2-10 mile range of towing, mostly at low speeds. Thanks everyone for the help.
The coolers I looked at were for Drag cars in the 1000-1500 horse range. So surely a 125 horse load with a constant supply of cold water would work. The core was about a foot square plus the ends with several layers of cooling fins ( like a radiator) inside. Look on ebay for "air to water...
cojhl2- We're in SW Nebraska.
I think we might try one, if our engine salesmen have any insite it might help. I'll try and remember to post some fuel use numbers be the end of summer for those that will remember this good discussion till then. Thanks all.
Pete Tomka in the new TDR mag claims "Every 10 degree F drop in intake air increases milage by 1%" This is dealing with air intake systems but the same should apply to air cooled after the turbo, not?
I would think it would be fairly easy to drop the temp by 50 degrees = 5% or . 3 gal/hr...
Good point! I suppose I need to leave it turned on or almost to keep the wheel unlocked. All I knew was that when they tow a pickup (tow truck) backwards they strap the steering wheel to keep the front from going sideways.
Hoping some diesel buffs can help here. On our farm we have several diesel irrigation motors 75-125 hp load 466 john deeres, 5. 9 cum, iz. and cat. most are cooled through a cooling coil in the irrigation water. All are turbo'd but they aren't intercooled. With $2. 90 farm diesel we were just...
I'm wanting to build an A frame hitch for my little Mazda to go to the back of my semi trailer or Dodge. Just around county roads near home. Do I need to secure the steering wheel or front end? Going to go from both the Mazda frame rails to a ball coupler. Thanks for the help, just didn't want...
I was amazed that the filter would be so clogged up after so few miles. It's a smaller filter than on 12 and 24v trucks and this CR makes more power?!? I could easily get 50K out of the bhaf on my 98 with a gentle blowing out at about 25K.
Maybe this summer when I do more heavy towing I can...
