Hello TransEngineer, I want to say Thank You for all your posts. They have helped me wander thru the 68rfe world. I was able to retire 22 years ago. Hoping you have a great retirement, and IF you are going to wander around the west, stop by Jeffery City, Wy. And Two Dot, Mt. and look up some out...
I presently have a '12 3500 Laramie DRW I use to tow a large RV. I love the way it sits and drives.
The wife has a '11 Honda CRV. I hate the seats in it. It is great around town car, grocery getter.
But, both of us like the 3500, it actually drives and rides better than the CRV. It is just...
I am going to chime in here. I have been retired for close to 20 years. A old guy. The tow ratings mean nothing when you are talking about 5th's. A 2500 with a 3.42 and it can tow a 17K 5th. OK...... My '12 DRW has a 3.73 and I can run in 6th all day @ 65mpg/1650rpm's, There is no way I would...
My '12 3500 DRW Laramie is usually connected to my 5th 14.5K with a second trailer in tow with either the Golf Cart (going south) or the Polaris RZR on it (going west) about 2K or so. I have a 3.73 and at 65mph and @ 1650 rpm's. For me this is as good as it gets. Being a '12 it has a 68RFE and...
Yes you have been screwed. Step 20 is set toe and center steering wheel. Pays 1.1 hrs. It does NOT pay to have the caster or camber adjusted. Need to look at your ticket and see what it says.
My understanding is the Max Tow for '12 is a second oil cooler and a finned rear diff cover. My '12 3500 DRW Max Tow has the 3.73 gears. My window sticker shows 3.73 as stock gears. I seem to remember seeing 4.10 gears as a option on the windows of other trucks. My mfg date is 7/12
I asked the same question. Dealership said wait for the light to come on. OK at 5K I went in and said I wanted a oil change. Did the light come on. Nope. Then it is not due. I don't care about the light, I want it changed. I was paying for it. Now it is 6 months later. Got 4 K on this oil...
My '12 Laramie, the passenger seat does not vibrate. But it is not all the way back either. Wife is short so is moved up. @2K CEL. They tell me there is a TSB I need new ends on the harness. OK install ends. Pull truck to front. CEL still on. Take back, replace 2 x O2 sensors.
How long have we...
I think we are under estimating the 68RFE. It has been in service since '07 and yes the power has been increased, but I have not read of large amounts of transmission failures, even with the 350/800 engines.
The new 385/850 engines now have a transmission behind them that have been "fail proof"...
