    P2509 and not charging

Fixed! One thing I read insisted that it was a battery problem. So I took all the wires loose from the battery cable ends, and wire brushed and cleaned and sprayed protector on all of the connections. My plan was to then head to the auto parts to have the batteries load checked. But when I...

    P2509 and not charging

My 2009 2500 stopped charging, throwing the “lightning” light on the dash, as well as “check gauges”. Nothing I have read about P2509 (which I have) indicates that it would affect the alternator. I put a new alternator on, same problem. If I manage to correct the P2509 issue, should my charging...

    On a 2008 3500 6.7 What does Bluetec Diesel System mean ?

Sorry, I should not have commented about something that I did not know about. I just assumed that the DEF took care of the DPF also. Thank you for clarifying that for me, John.

    On a 2008 3500 6.7 What does Bluetec Diesel System mean ?

This is the early pollution control system that uses diesel fuel injected on the exhaust stroke to burn the soot out of the Diesel Particulate Filter. A regeneration cycle will happen every 200 miles or so for about 20 miles while on the highway. Later models use DEF instead.

    Stiff riding tires

I put some Toyo Open Country H/T tires on my 2500 soon after I bought it in 2017. These have been some great tires, but the truck has always seemed to ride very rough. I did a lot of research, learned about proper tire pressure for the load, put new Bilstein shocks on. Still spent 60,000 miles...

    Fuel Dilution strategies

When you say proper tune, you mean with everything deleted? Otherwise there will be regen. I'm running Smarty Jr, I have noticed that with increased timing, the regens are shorter. I have no plans to delete any more than blocking the EGR. I still have to go back to stock once a year to pass...

    Fuel Dilution strategies

My question is- what is it about towing that reduces or eliminates the fuel dilution in these models? I've tracked the regens, it still does it while towing at about the same rate. Is the oil temp increased? Sometimes the coolant temp is not increased, when towing on level ground.

    Fuel Dilution strategies

Thanks. Yes, I should have said Bluetec after treatment (There's a Bluetec logo on the tail gate.) Not the answer I was hoping to hear. I'll have to keep up with the oil analysis to make sure of when I need an oil change. I guess I should mention that I have the EGR unplugged and blocked off, I...

    Fuel Dilution strategies

Last year I put a bypass filter on my '09 stock 2500, Smarty Jr. Hoping to get increased oil change intervals. I had it analyzed at 10,000 miles, everything was great, negligible fuel dilution. But 6,000 miles of that were towing my camper across the country and back. Sampled same oil 6,000...

Anyone have Husky Liners to review for me.

I have Huskies in my 09 2500 quad cab, they fit well and are very durable. They have the hole for the hook. I would buy again.

    Smarty?

Thanks Jim. I do have my EGR unplugged, I have read a lot about that and it does seem to give me less regens. I plugged it back in a few days before I had to go through inspection, passed no problem.

    Smarty?

Well, I thought my truck profile would show up, don’t know how that works. 2009 2500 SLT Quad Cab, 4x4, Long Bed, bone stock engine, overload springs, Toyo Open Country A/S.

    Smarty?

Hi, I’m new to the register. I bought my truck last January with 98,000 miles on it, because we were planning to buy a camper and pull it across country. Two best decisions I ever made! We love the camping and traveling, and I love my truck. I am interested (who isn’t?) in better fuel mileage...
