Thank you, this the explanation I was looking for. I have priced some transmissions and they go any where between3000- 5000!! I think I'm looking to get it built the spring.

And seriously what does my age have to do with this... I know plenty of guys that are in their 50s and still hot ridding their trucks!!

First off... THis isn't my first diesel... I'm not stupid when It co COmes to cars. I don't leave it on performance all the tIme... Or especially when I have a load behind me. The ad ons were mostly for fuel mileage. It's not slipping to any major extent. Im honestly not too worried about it...

But the fluid doesnt smell burnt like a toasted trans usually smells??

Very good cars, i have a 01 TDI and i love it! I use to work for volkwagen, mine has 252000 miles on it, and i dont baby it either, i get 48mpg consistantly! One thing i would recomend is getting a Manual. Eaiser to work on, because if a auto goes out your looking at 4500 dollar repair bill...
