Got around to servicing the power steering pump today. A few things:
Rented the 67061 belt tool from O'Reilly's. Much easier than using a 1/2" drive ratchet. Since the tool is flat stock, I was able to use it from the top under the hood by myself, so as not to bother my wife to pull the belt...
I recently noticed a few drops of PS fluid under the truck. Can't see exactly where it's spurting out, but the area surrounding the bottom is covered. Seems like it might be the o-ring between the reservoir and the pump, which has been documented previously as a problem.
I found this write up...
I’m just now getting around to replacing these.
Went with whatever O’Reillys had. Measured in the parking lot with a digital caliper.
In the drive way now and there’s a gap. Is this correct? They’re obviously tight. No play unlike the originals that were on there, but should there be this gap...
Well, the survey has it! I’ll pick up some regular old rubber ones at Oreillys. Save me some money.
My question, though. If I measured it at 32.3 and 32.6mm, should I buy the 32mm or 33mm bushings?
Hey y’all.
Looking to replace my front sway bar bushings on my 2006 Ram 3500 4x4 SLT SRW Mega.
I took the truck to O’Reillys to grab replacements, but all they had in stock was rubber. I’m looking to get polyurethane or some other type of thermoplastic so I didn’t get them yet.
There’s 3...
I got the shocks finished. Definitely recommend Bilstein 5100 shocks for anyone looking to improve their ride quality. My wife said "it feels like a new truck" :) I agree.
Back to the issue, I noticed the cupping on the front driver tire from the worn out shocks, so I had the tires rotated...
Is there a way to tell what ball joints I have? I guess I can call the shop back. Bleh
Not doing them myself, I would LOVE to not make this a routine.
Got the front two shocks installed with little trouble. 2 hours total. Both were thrashed. Why wouldn't a shop recommend new shocks to me...
Just replaced the steering stabilizer. Went in perfectly.
I might go back to the shop and ask them for the specs. Or explain that I replaced the stabilizer and see what they say.
I haven’t change the tires. They are big sons of guns. 315/70/17. Mastercraft. Came with them. Not a fan. Saving...
I will test drive without any damper and see what happens.
I had the brake pads and rotors changed all around last oil change.
I have checked with laser thermometer the disks after a 20 minute drive and all are comparable.
I’m not sure what brand ball joints were used. I had them replaced...
Hey yall.
I have an 06 Ram 3500 4x4. New drag link, ball joints, pitman arm all recalls and 08 steering upgrade. I had drag link replaced last. Said an alignment was done.
Got truck back, had a pull to left.
The last time this happened, I had another alignment done at an “old school” shop...
Thank you for the reply, Cerberusiam.
I didn’t think they would have had any reason. They had the truck for a few weeks. I guess they could have done anything and I would have no way of knowing. At this point, I’m unsure if I would even have any option of recourse.
So that’s cool.
After much...
