That doesn't really address my concern. It may give me better awareness of the status of the DPF, but if I'm driving in 4wd low in a forestry road and the DPF says it needs me to drive at highway speeds to facilitate a regeneration, what am I supposed to do?

Okay, but the guidance from that engineer doesn't match up with the pages you've posted.... The engineer says its okay to idle the engine for long periods of time. The Ram literature is saying that you shouldn't idle for long periods of time and also that the SCR needs highway speeds to clean...

That conversation was in regards to a C&C truck....does all of that apply to a regular 2500/3500 pickup? Also, I do think that FCA engineer ate his own words a bit on that discussion; I mean after all, those early 6.7l's without the SCR turned out to be very unreliable outside of pure highway...

OP wasn't doing anything outrageous in terms of offroading. There is no reason a driveline component should snap like that when in 4wd hi or low going over a snow-covered road, especially on a 2-3 year old truck.

So if the snow wasn't deep, why the heck did the drive shaft break? Also, why are you refusing an inspection? Do you not want this thing to be covered by the warranty?

A drive shaft self-destructs because it wasn't greased? I don't know...it's possible. It's also possible that FCA had bad quality control at the factory. I've heard of other instances where this happened and I've heard some people question whether or not FCA truly built all of the driveline...
