I just bought a 96 dodge 2500 that was changed from a 360 gas to a cummins. I heard that you have to disable the fuel pump that is in the tank or you will blow the seals in your injection pump. Is that true and if so what do I have to do to fix the problem, I took out the fuse for the fuel pump...
My cruise control just started shutting off by itself, it works fine for a few miles then just shuts off. I'll hit resume and it will work again for a few miles then shut off again, i'll hit resume then... ... ... . Has anyone else had this problem? My truck is a 97 auto 4x4 with 260k.
My speedo is correct, I checked it with a gps, I can't explain the rpm either, maybe when the transmission was rebuilt something was screwed with, I don't know. Or maybe the tach is off?
I paid $6500 for my 97 2500, auto, 4x4, with 250k on it, body is not perfect but not bad with no rust. I have put about $1700 into it though, and a lot of hours making thing "right" again. I've had it about a little over a year now.
Oh I'm tellin! The tires that I'm running right now are 235s, that is a size below stock. I just had them left over from my 90 ram and I needed tires so I put them on my 97. The rpm is a mystery to me too. I bought it a year ago and the transmission was just rebuilt, before I bought it, everything is...
I bought a denso rebuild kit and had an electric motor shop rebuild mine. It works awesome but it still costed $200, but it should last as long as I have the truck. I found a denso rebuild kit on ebay for $50.
I have 257k on my truck and just got 22mpg on a 560 mile trip. Before the trip I had the timing set, valves adjusted and the kdp fixed and I used a fuel additive. I drove about 70mph the whole way and in my truck that is about 1875rpm.
I got a denso rebuild kit and took it to an electric motor shop. They rebuilt it and it works great. They said they couldn't believe it worked at all, it was a mess in there. It was super dirty and the brushes were almost totally gone. It was a napa starter and he said it looks like I got a good...
I have a 97 auto, It has 255k on it and I'm going to get the timing set. I don't know where it is at now and its probably time if its never been done before. My question is what should I get it set at? When I tow it's only a 3500 pound boat. I usually tow at about 70mph give or take which is...
I had a Carquest 31 series in my 90, I had it four 4 years and it never had a problem even at 0 degrees it started the truck fine. When I sold the truck it was still working great. When I bought my '97 it needed new batteries so I went with them again. East Penn makes them, there are only a few...
When you change your front diff make sure not to top it off, if you do it will leak out of the right side. Your supposed to leave it an inch below the fill hole. It sounds like you have your mind made up but you should really check out schaefferoil.com before you make your final decision, its...
I've been using schaeffers in my gear boxes, so far so good. I'm going to put it in my transfer case too but it takes atf so I'm going to do some research first. The schaeffer guy told me I could use his "superlube" (I think thats what he said) in the t-case.
Thanks for all of your input, now I have to figure out where I want my timing. My transmission has an aftermarket converter in it and my gearing is kinda strange so I have to figure out what I'm going to do with that before I get the timing done. I bought the truck with a freshly rebuilt transmission in it...
I have a napa starter and oddly enough its starting to crank slow. Does anyone know if you can use a rebuild kit like the Larry B's kit in a napa starter or are the rebuild kits only for the OE starters? And if so is the Larry B's kit the best one out there?
