I put the 285/70/17 E Nitto's on 10days ago. No problems at all so far. Looks great, run smooth and quiet for an agressive on/off road tread. Will keep you posted on them as I get more miles on them.
Forgot to mention the Nitto Terra Grapplers were the largest E rated tire with an on road / off road traction that I was looking for. Per Nitto's website the tire is listed at 3750 @ 80 PSI. As an earlier poster put it, more tire pressure equals stiffer side walls. For towing heavy loads, IMO...
Decided on the LT285/70/R17 E rated Nitto Terra Grapplers. Got them put on today. Looks good, feels good, will keep all posted on their performance.

I have been trying to figure out what tire to upgrade to as well. One thing that I keep reading about and reading on TDR is the rim width limitations on stock wheels. My 2004 has 17x8 rims and most of the larger E rated tires start at 8. 5in. Not sure if that was a problem or not, but wanted to...
Thanks for all the good feedback. I like to hear of your situations so I can compare to mine. Does going with a D rated tire affect the warranties at all? I can get the AT KO's put on tomorrow if I wanted but still struggling with this decision.
Few questions/concerns regarding upgrading to new tires.
Have: 2004, 2500, 4. 10, LWB, Quad Cab, 4x4, 6spd Manual. Currently still running Michelin LTX-A/S LT265/70R17 tires with Load Range E. Per Michelin's website, this tire is rated at 3195lbs at 80psi. Everything else on truck is stock...
