I may look into this more soon. The origin of this idea was the fact that while I was adjusting the bearing preload I got CGS( Curious George Syndrome) and decided to screw the adjuster plate off, which puked fluid, and came off the now know too me worm drive. I wasn't sure about rebuilding...

I tried searching but couldn't find an answer. I think I read that a 3rd gen steering gear could be retrofitted into our trucks;something about using a 3/4" plate and to bolt the new box to, then drill and tapping for the frame. Is this true, and the input/output shafts and lines are the same?

You didn't by any chance install the rock ram steering colum bushing did you? That is exactly what my truck did when the mechanic installed mine; forced it too far and cost me a new column.

Exactly what I did! Mostly because the local dealer said the tools coul dno longer be had. Not much welding practice in it, but any metal burning for me is a plus.

I've had the PSC box on for probably about 20-25,000 miles. It hepled the excessive play about 10%. Seems though I've done the over the center adjustment almost every month after the first year it's been on( now in year two). But now that does nothing. I've had the DSS on for half that time...

But the alternator pulley is always spinning; just the regulator won't let more electricity go the the fully charged battery, right. Since it's always spinning, wouldn't that be where the HHO kits get their so called free energy from? Not really free, just already there and untapped.
