I have owned Ford's and Chevy's. Chevy's squeek and rattle after 12 months. Their half tons, especially, are truck-light's. I had a Ford F-250 crew (2000) cab v-10 and it was a good truck, though the brakes sucked and it had a lot of rust. I also owned a F-150, Silverado (1998), Cheyenne (1996)...
Dodge has always claimed that they did not want to scavange sales of the Jeep brand. To me that never made sense because they are just not the same truck. I have heard this explanation for a number of years.
New transmission is great. I love turning the exhaust brake on then selecting successively lower gears on hearing the jake brake slow the truck. My sons love it too. Transmission is great. I just keep it topped out in 5th to prevent lugging around town and on cold mornings.
Well I had the recall done a few weeks ago and the truck just threw the P2262 code the other day. I took it to a very good Dodge diesel dealership and they told me that they did a specific flash that had not been done, cleaned out the a downtube or soemthing related to the exhaust brake and told...
Mine is going in on Tuesday. The dealership said that they can only do 5 a week because of parts availability. A 3 mpg bump would be very nice especially at $3. 35 a gallon for diesel.
Chevy deleted the underhood light for at least a few years. They may have brought it back. Every truck goes through the Product Cheapening Department. I believe Dodge did it for the 2007's on the duallies by getting rid of that nice brake/running light in the middle of the tailgate to a smaller...
I bought some n-fab units for my megacab. They sit up tighter to the body and have welded steps that sit out under each door. Only drawback is that they mount to the pinch-weld and not the frame. Drilling holes in the pinchweld is bad for it, just a pain.
Didn't check the code but the check engine light went off. I brought it to the dealer as they had some warranty steering linkage work to do. The change oil message is an idiot light based on the amount and type of driving you do. No sensors to detect oil quality. There is supposedly a TSB that...
Well three days later the light is still on but the center consol is telling me to get an oil change. This is 1500 miles after I just had it changed. Does the truck actually have a sensor to tell you when to change the oil based on the quality or is it an idiot light reminder?
Well, I got up this morning and started my drive to work and the engine idiot light came in the dash. Drove directly to the dealership to see if they could plug it in and diagnose the code. The diesel tech was until noon. He told me unless it is running poorly, then go ahead and drive it. Drove...
Well it came back from the dealership feeling better. Yeah, I agree, just need to get used to the low-speed steering pump performance. We'll have to see about the u-joint.
I had mine done on Saturday. The dealer claimed they put the latest flash from Dodge. Only noticable difference: truck seems quiter. Never had any problems through 3k miles.
