Did a temp check on the radiator today with a temp gun. The difference at the top to the bottom hose was 5 degrees. The belt is on correctly. I got the thermostat housing to seal by just using the gasket.

Radiator cspbis new as well came with the new Radiator .

What could I do to see if it is bad? Doesn't leak or have any visible signs of being bad

I will bring the tep gun and ck it tomorrow. As mentioned previouslyvI did remove the thermostat to rule that out a a potential issue. Napa did not even stock the temp sensor told me they sell very few. I could replace it but did unplug it and temp indicated was in the red. Reconnected and...

Truck was in for brake work and a flush. I was told and shown a picture of a small radiator leak. The radiator was 6 yrs old and I told them to replace it . A couple of weeks later when it started to get hot in CO it started to overheat.

Nothing done prior stock no tuner... how would I verify the gauge is correct? If it gets into the red the overflow will activate until full and the truck idle increases and shift point from second to 3rd gear changes. But fan does not come on?

Oh didn't mention not running empty this thrruck has a large kuv box on the back and usally runs around 12k at all times. But I have never had overheating problems with this truck.

Removed the thermostat and drove today. Still getting hot just before the red. Fan runs when cooling for the ac but stops when past 200. Then ac compressor begins to cycle very frequently and fan is not running. Problem has to be in the control of the fan which seems to be only from the ecm.

Airflow is good power washed everything

Engine code is po118 coolant twmp too high.

Truck is stock about 286 k . Radiator cap is new thermostat was a carquest premium.

Have not checked fault codes but will do. Thermostat is also brand new 195 I believe. That is the part that makes no sense why would the fan stop working when the temp goes up very counter intuitive to me. It also cuts out the ac compressor. Unless the only thing making the fan run is the ac...
