    I got you and I get that, but this image from my truck shows the long (exhaust) stud next to a normal length stud. What I end up with is more thread past the nut.     Rkressg, Thanks for responding! I have a hard time finding an answer to this question. All the 26 stock head bolts that I removed are all the same length. Making the location irrelevant. Why is it relevant with studs? Thx
