I've pondered that, but I think that I'd like to leave it functioning. At least for now. I don't rate the brakes as all that great, so maybe if/when I do something about that I'll delete the ABS. I had hoped that the H-B conversion would have made a bigger improvement than it did. It was an...
I wasn't clear, it will work with the sensor that the ABS uses, just not with the sensor tasked with generating ABS signal. A second, identical sensor will be fine. Just to figure out what the speedometer needs the signal to look like for it to work.
I suspect that an ABS system needs a immediate signal, not one delayed by even a couple of micro-seconds, and that is why they say it's not for use with ABS systems. The processor may be fast, but it's probably not fast enough for an ABS.
Systems also don't seem to like to share sensors unless...
Thank you, that's a great data point. It tells me that one way or another I can get there from here. ABS is still functional, but an electronics savvy friend has postulated that with a fabricated diff cover it would be easy to add a second "ABS sensor" to feed a signal to the speedo system from...
Our '96 2500 4WD came with the NP241D transfer case, which had a VSS and reluctor in the tail housing. I added a GV-OD and the used unit that I bought was set up to fit on an NP271 t/c. A Search found that the cost of the 241 adapter parts was the same as a good, used 271 so I had the stronger...
Certainly economy of scale plays into making springs, but the math is simple and the concept does work and has been used many thousands of unique applications - not all of which are vehicular.
I disagree. A lower spring rate just means that you need a taller spring to arrive at the needed ride height rate. Without resorting to by-passes a damper can be valved to work in this application w/o being obnoxious. Done all of the time in the stock desert racing classes. I consider the bumps...
Sitting connected or isolated? It's possibly splitting hairs, but sitting connected can cause battery activity if there is any connection resistance. BT, DT with paired batteries killing them selves over the seemingly insignificant resistance from one head bolt on the driver's side of an SBC to...
I went thru something similar with a VW diesel years ago. Turned out to be water in the fuel. Not a lot of water, but enough to plug the RACOR fuel filter. It seems that "paper" fuel filters can clog with water and it does not SHOW. Replace the filter and drain the supply lines before...
It is a 1 ton truck. It shouldn't ride like a car. Buy a car if you want a car-like ride.
That said, X eleventeen on Bilstein dampers. But as also said, spring rate plays a big factor and you can't easily have a low spring rate and a high payload capacity at the same time.
OR put in air ride...
Is that isolated batteries that have sat unused (no charge or discharge) for at least a couple of hours? If not then the voltage readings are not true.
That was an example, not a specific recommendation. Some take everything too literal. Who uses a box wrench on a hose clamp? I guess I should have said "No point in carrying an 19/32 box-combo wrench....."
