I'm not sure of the exact Cd but think it is around . 55.
I'm running simulations to calculate the viscous and pressure forces directly so the Cd will be calulated later once I settle on a shape.
At 70mph you are looking at about 1000 N of drag for a stock 4x4.
I've never thought...
tbrudder,
In case you hadn't considered this before:
Fd=Cd*Af*V^2
Fd=drag force
Cd=coefficient of drag
Af=frontal area
V=velocity
Power=Fd*V
Therefore the amount of horsepower required to go a certain speed increases with the cube of velocity. You need 8 times as much horsepower...
Hohn,
Did you know my cousin Pete Raber? He was 00 too. He played soccer for the first couple of years and then decided to try and do some normal cadet stuff instead.
Nate
Hohn,
I should probably try to write more articulately. I just posted to point out that ride height has an effect on pressure drag (very little effect on viscous). The exact amount of change it will have is probably not more than a few percent.
By going to 315's he raised is truck a...
Hohn
I have to disagree with you on the truck height effecting drag point. I've done tons of simulations on light trucks using CFD and have found that changes in ride height have a significant impact. The stagnation points on the axles are exacerbated with ride height increases as well as there...
4.10
I have some 4. 10s that I can sell you for a 4x4. I'm asking $300 obo. They only have 40k miles on them and the differential shop said they were in perfect shape when they came out. New gears will run you about $800 to $900 for the whole truck.
I went through the same decision as you a...
EGR removal
I plan on removing the EGR on my 97' and installing a 49 state intake and block off for exhaust. How do I avoid the check engine light?
Thanks,

In case you missed the other thread and are looking for a good deal on shocks. This is the best that I found.
Nathan
I bought the Rancho 9000x 9-way adjustable shocks at Sam's Offroad Warehouse for $210. 00 shipped. They have a buy three get one free going right now. Here is the link.

I thought this was a really good deal so I jumped on it.
Nathan
Hi everyone,
Thanks for the help. After much deliberation I ended up buying the Ranchos. Mainly because I found them for $210 shipped online. I'll let you know either way how they effect the problem.
Thanks again.
Nathan
Very funny Pitbull LOL,
I'll give it some thought but (fortunately) she doesn't weigh much.
It seems the consensus is to go with Ranchos for the ultra soft ride. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.
Any other opinions on shocks?
Thanks,
Nathan
Ranchos vs. Bilsteins
Thanks for all of the responses.
After doing some furthur research: it appears that most people that have tried both Ranchos and Bilsteins prefer the Bilsteins. Anyone disagree with this summary?
Thanks,
Nathan
