The Fan is mechanically powered by the engine through the serpentine belt. There is an electric control for the clutch. In my case the clutch was mechanically locked up so it didn't matter what the controller told it to do, it was always engaged.
I am glad to have it back, that is for sure :)
OK so it took 2 days but they finally decided it was the fan clutch and replaced it, problem solved.
I think it was going out for a while because the truck is so quiet now, I don't even recognize it.
Also, now I can spin the fan by hand (when engine off), some resistance but spins freely...
I was able to un-plug it. Fan still ran.
In the PDC the only thing I saw that was close: Relay K02 Rad Fan HI Spd* The relay location was empty though.
There is a note that says *IF EQUIPPED.
K03 relay is there, it is for Air Suspension, my truck does not have that.
Today while driving, I heard the engine fan come on, which doesn’t happen much here in winter in Oregon. Funny thing is, it never went off. It is loud...
