2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission borgeson steering box installation issue

When you say you "adjusted the steering adjusters", what exactly do you mean? Update: I called Geno's where I originally bought the box. What a great bunch! Even though it was about six months ago when I bought the box, they said they would either get Borgeson to ship me another one, or...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission borgeson steering box installation issue

Hello, I bought this box about six months and am just now getting around to installing it in my 97 2500. There is no way this will line up with my pitman arm splines without turning the wheel about 90 degrees. I did a search on this forum and found a few mentions of this which said the...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Gear ration question

I recently put a G56 in my 97 which had a auto in it. In my research I must have missed this... With the auto I was turning about 2050 rpm at roughly 70mph. The G56 I put in was from a 2006. Now I have to push to 2250 rpm to get 70, and that is after a tire swap to an overall larger...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 97 auto to G56 swap, ABS light on and no speedo

Working through a few bugs after my swap. The ABS and Brake light are on all the time. I cannot get the truck to give me the code, so I am not sure why. Also, the speedo will not work. The dakota digital interface that takes the ABS signal and converts to the speedo signal has power, and...

Truck is starting and running fine now. The adapter that was in the truck has this number stamped in it, 3965233. The one that works has 3999928. The adapters appear to be the same, except the one that was causing the problem has a 1/2" taller starter flange. You can clearly see the difference...

Yes, I printed out this entire thread and gave it to him. He was very impressed with not only the quantity of info, but the quality. The truck is now running, and I will pick it up tomorrow and put some miles on it. Thank you again, Ricky

Update! auto to g56 swap in a 97 Just heard from the shop that has my truck. The second adapter appears to be thinner, and as such should solve this problem. That is great news! Clearly there are some differences in the adapters. Now, do you think I will have any success getting the vendor...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Anyone tried aftermarket seats?

Before I spend the money to reupholster and re-bolster my seats, just wondering if anyone has found a more comfortable seat that is an easy swap? Ricky

For anyone following this. I am still waiting. The new adapter came last week, but the garage I have the truck at has not had time to put it on the rack and check it out.

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Value of a transmission?

I will let you know when I am done. The swap itself went well, but I have a problem (it is in the 911 section if you want to read the details) that is not yet resolved due to time issues. Hopefully, I will be posting some good news soon, or the slushbox may go back in:( Ricky By the...

Thank you everyone for all the ideas. I am on vacation (borrowed a truck to get my car to the mountains) and will get a chance on Monday or Tuesday of next week to check all of the above. I will post the findings. Thank you again, this is a good forum powered by great people. God...

Thanks again guys. Yes, both of the dowels are in place. There were no fitment issues at all. Right now, I am in a holding pattern, waiting for the new adapter to arrive and praying that is the issue, even though it is going to cost a lot to have it intstalled. Ricky

Yes, I meant flywheel. The latest, South bend is telling me I need a starter from a 6. 7 truck, it has a 1/2" longer throw. The local dodge dealerships do not stock them, and do not have a picture, and will not order one without a VIN and money up front. Of course, my VIN will not help, and...

Archived 97 auto to g56 conversion gone awry

Thanks GAmes, I took my 97 starter to the shop but it measured the same as the 06 and 08 we tried. He called to have a 97 for a manual sent over, and it is the same as the one from the auto truck. He says it was slightly different, so he is going to put it in and try it, but even if it...
