Is there any data to support these claims? I know it is internet lore that these pumps are crap, but my very small sample size (population one), is showing otherwise.
Given that I live in AZ, you would think the high temps would have killed mine long ago.
Why do you say the replacements...
So is your current lift pump giving you problems? If not, why spend the $$ to fix a non-problem.
My '03 still have the filter mounted pump, and is going strong at ~125,000 miles. When it does fail, the replacement is cheap and much easier to change out than the tank mounted pump.
My '06 has ~186,000 miles on the original injectors. I did have to replace one due to a non-starting issue, but I think the real problem was that the hold down bolts had come loose. Since I was so far into it, and had the new injector, I went ahead and changed it out.
I used this one:

It was inexpensive, and very easy to install. I believe that filter is the best available.
I also have added oil pressure to my CTS, with an alarm at 15 p.s.i. If I lose oil pressure, I should be able to shut it down before too much damage occurs.
You will need a thermocouple for EGT's and a pressure sender for oil or fuel pressure (lift pump). Boost/rail pressure/trans temp are all done via existing sensors. I'm not sure how accurate the trans temp is, but it looks reasonably accurate on my truck.
I have mine mounted in the SRT A-pillar...
You might consider the Edge Insight CTS. You can run up to eight gauges on one screen. That may seem like a lot, but I am using all but one of them in my basically stock truck. Better to have too much info, than not enough...
I made it close to 170K on my OEM's, mostly highway. They were worn, but you could not tell it by my tire wear or by the way the truck handled. I could have left them alone but I was going to put on new tires and figured it was time to tighten things up, so out they came.
That was one of the...
I sprung for the Carli's and am glad I did. I should never have to remove the bodies, thus wearing out my housing, since they are rebuildable. I should also be able to rebuild them for free, with the lifetime warranty - in the off chance they should ever wear out.
How much did you save if you...
Very good point, and I actually did that the "first" time through. I got everything apart but the final two bolts holding the injector in and decided I had to know if it was the cross-over tube as it seemed to come off too easily. So I reassembled it all, and torqued it correctly, and it fired...
