JR--- I have an EDE COMP and there is a 12 vt power that comes to it plus a ground that hooks up on the TPS bracket. I guess that without the ground attached it must do bad things to the map sensor ( the edge data cable hooks into the engine map connector goes through the edge and hooks into...
First thanks. Problem is solved and truck is back on the road. Here's an interesting tib bit--- If the ground is off the edge and you try to start her; it will burn out the map sensor. Once I replaced the sensor she started right up. A $122 oops!! A lot of work to replace a tappet gasket (she...
I think I may have figured it out the ground wire on the edge is off and the edge connects to the map sensor. I'll find out tomorrow (I'm done for the night and the trucks at the base auto shop> Hope's that is it!!!!
Thanks for the reply
Mayday... Dodge 3500, 1998 24vl, 5.9 I just replaced the tappet cover gasket and as you know the injector pump comes out, ecm disconected, ect. After putting it all back together the truck won't fire!!! The codes are P0238 and P1693. The check engine light is on as soon as you turn the key...
Thanks for the reply, in further research I found that my son never cleared the scan tool and the code was from his vehicle. Once I cleared the machine I re-scaned my truck and all was well. Feel like a dummy for not checking first.
1998 1/2, 24 valve. About every other week I run a scan tool on the truck as part of my maintance routine and low and behold this time I got a code P0473, exhaust pressure sensor high. I didn't have a light on the dash. Now I thought I knew my old truck pretty well but I didn't know I had one of...
Thanks, I never knew that nor thought of it. I checked the vent today and it was clear. I can see how it could get plugged up. The new seal is still leaking a little but far better than the one I took out. on a 100 mile run I had a little bit run down. The wife just came back from the store, 35...
Ok that's good news. I had 320k miles on the old seal and it had little wear on the yoke shaft. I did check the universal joints and they all were tight and moving free. I guess a few miles on her will tell. Thanks for the info, the people on this forum have been great.
This became a job I wish I never thought of. I noticed by pinion seal was leaking on my dana 80 decided to replace it. I have done this job with my old GMC truck so I thought it would be a snap; wrong. After ordering the part and researching my Haynes manual the first thing I encountered a nut...
Wow sorry about goecm. They did a great job for me now I feel bad telling you about them. I would have them check it out again and make sure they program it. For that amount of money I wouldn't let them off the hook.
I had to replace my ECM about 5 years ago. The wife took the truck and in one mile the truck went into limp mode. When she nursed it back it
would only start if I disconnected the battery then reconnect; then the engine was race up!! Anyway we found the ecm was shot.
I sent mine to a...
I don't know much on a 2001 but on my 98. 5 I went through this drill a year ago and had to replace my ecm. I went through Diesel ECM.com and they sent me a rebuilt overnight!! They even programed it using the vin number and engine serial number. It's been running great and have no complaints...
I had a similar problem years ago (no crash though) when I lost power to the gauges, interior lights, ect. What I found was a bad connector under the dash, driver side. Recommend wiggling the wires down there and see if everything comes on. I wiggled the wire bundles and everything came back.
The fast-95 wiring should be a hot wire with fuse direct to the battery pos side, another to the ground on the battery and a set that plugs into the connector for the old lift pump located on the drivers side, rear of the engine low. They all meet at the relay. You can check the pump by taking...
