    cold temp and gelling

EKLEM The jelling that everyone is talking about is the wax chrystals in the fuel and where you have trouble is in any filter or screen. It only requires bringing the fuel temp back above the jel point. The jel point with ulsd #2 as refined at the Cenex Refinery is about -5f. Cenex does offer...

Is there an aftermarket module that will restart your truck when aux. batteries low?

alternators only put out the amount of energy being used. there is a circut that makes the alternator full charge for a period after a start. that is what is supposed to keep up with starter use.

    Need Winter Advice

I live in North Dakota drive a 96 12 valve. It starts fine at -15 over night without plugging in. I run 10w-40, and add 10% #1 fuel when I expect below -10. A friend of mine pulls his snowmobiles to Yellowstone and tells me he starts at -25 after setting for 2 days. Good bateries Good heater...

I have a few truck hauling questions.

I have been hauling cars, pickup's, farm tractors for many years. My method for tie down is to use a 2" strap hooked to the rear of trailor wrap around the rear axle (take care not to squish break lines ect. and soften any sharp edges) and ratchet to the front of trailor. By using this method...

    Explanation for High Fuel Prices

lack of oil or the price of oil is only a little part of the high fuel price game. The lack of refining facilities is the real reason for high fuel prices. Katrina knocked out some refineries, but the EPA and the green tree hugging spotted owl lovin clowns are the biggest problem we have. New...

    Straight 6 vs. V 8

The V configureation helps in balance more pulses per crank revelution. Shorter block, 3 in a row verses 6 in a row. Also a lighter block. GMC went to the extream in the 60's with V6's. They built a V6 in the neighborhood of 500 ci. , they had pistons like coffee cans. This was at a time before...

    Straight 6 vs. V 8

rperker longer stroke does produce more torque no matter the configuration, I6 V6 V8 . The reason the I6 or V6 for that matter will have more torque than the same displacement V8 is each cylinder is larger in the 6 than the 8. When each cylinder fires in the 6 it has more power than the...
