    Tire Load Range Ratings

E rated tires are 10 ply and D rated are 8 ply The reason they can support the same weight is because the 285 is a bigger tire. This means that it turns slower and will not heat up at the same rate that the 265 will

    air noise at heavy load

So why would Cummins have two different ways to actuate the wastegate? What tells the electronic acuator to increase boost? Why wouldn't the turbo just have a 30psi wastegate like the HX35s have? Do yourself a favor and get a ISB 5. 9L CR service and tech manual, or search on quickserve...

    air noise at heavy load

    Stock head gasket holds 60psi

    Subtle grinding from G56 transmission.

There is an orange boot under that. You have to take the black boot off the floor board to see it. Might want to check it. They last about 70,000 miles and they tear.

    air noise at heavy load

Glad to hear that you found the problem easily. Dad's truck has the plastic aftercooler. He keeps his stock though.

    air noise at heavy load

Is that right? Hmmm. That's funny. Explain this then, "expert". Why when I'm towing with a friend of mine's 05, with all stock components with a set of gauges, does the exhaust temp climb until 1400 and then the boost go from 30 to 42 psi and the egts stay the same. What do you think the...

    air noise at heavy load

The wastegate just routes exhaust gases around the turbine wheel to regulate the speed of the turbine wheel. Hence, regulating boost. The stock wastegate pressure is around 30 psi. At 1400 degrees, the computer senses a high EGT condition and will electronically close the waste gate to introduce...

    turbo noise

Does this occur right after hard thottle and then a sudden lift off the thottle? What you are hearing is possibly compressor stall. The factory intake may have covered this noise and now the open AFE might not hide it as well. A change in driving style would fix this. Just roll off the thottle...

Why all the vg turbo's on Ebay?

Yeah, I know you can't cross the ECMs. That's why I said you would need a 6. 7 ecm. The turbos fail because the soot builds up on the intake housing and makes contact with the compressor wheel. You going to clean the fractures off a compressor wheel? If all they needed was cleaning then why...

Why all the vg turbo's on Ebay?

If they are warranty, then they are junk. Too bad you can't rob any of the parts out of them. The bearing housings are different and nothing would match up on the compressor or turbine housing.

Why all the vg turbo's on Ebay?

To run a VGT on a 03-07 you will need an ecm from an 07. 5-09. Banks had something on an aftermarket VGT for the 5. 9 common rails, but they used a Borg Warner turbo. Cummins does the variable so much better than the competition. Good luck on getting them to work on a 5. 9L.

    Glow plug? / plug in

With all the electronics on today's engines, who knows. I miss the days when all you needed was power to one wire to get a Cummins to start.

    Glow plug? / plug in

Distributors are kind of like franchise. I'm not sure if you can climb the ladder higher than them or not. I'm sure if you get in contact with some one in customer service at the headquarter level, that they should be able to direct you to the proper people. My guess is that the distributor is...

Well, that explains the numbers on e-bay. Thanks for the info.
